Sorry that I'm late to this thread. I want to mention that in my unsaved youth, the Smiths were unfortunately one of my favorite bands. I bought all their albums as new releases. Indeed, Johnny Marr's infernal genius is what inspired me to pick up the guitar and make a living at music. Despite it all, I was spared from the homersexual lifestyle... thank God!

I am frankly amazed that he's still around. I'd moved on by 1988 or so. Of course, I can say the same about U2. Bono's voice was interesting to me in the very early '80s.
