to brother mcgregor, I am actually very happy to read what you put in your last post. One of my main qualms with christianity is that most christians seem to fear punishment more than they should. It appears to be their only motivation, escaping hell instead of earning God's love. And I'm aslo sorry about my typing... I speak much more eloquently than I type, so I'll try to tone it down (I was never any good at writting).

And to Unfalsifiable, Im sorry if you felt singled out since there were more people attacking me, but I never take well to being called ignorant. If someone called me ignorant in more words and I didnt catch it, I'm sorry. I just dont like being called ignorant.

Unlucky you singled me out for being offensive when I said that atheists whom attack Christians on this board are ignorant. You said you "weren't ignorant" so I said why are you here? So you say all you are doing is saying not all atheists are pompous. A CLEAR CHANGE from what you originally called me out for.

Now I am offended. I would like an explanation or an apology.

I guess I did deserve that brother Mcgregor, In hindsight I really should have explained why an athiest would be writting on a Christian board. I was actually lead hear by a joke on a website (referring to URMRGAY), and I noticed that this thread holds very negative views on athiests. I am merely here to inform you all that not all athiests are as you describe them. Not all athiests believe themselves to be supierior to anyone else, although I will admit that a fair share do...

I'm not a spelling nazi so I will silence my inclination to remark on how good it is that you do not consider yourself superior.
This website in general holds very dim views on atheists. The unsaved and those unwilling to be saved are not welcome. It would be one thing to state that you are an atheist but would love to know more about Christ and the way of God. That lends itself to hope that you might find salvation.

and about considering satan to be real but not god, I was simply saying that I am not a tool of satan, as I am acting of my own free will and have only had the best intrests of others in mind, which I'm sure is not something satan would want.

The path to Heaven is lined with good works...and so is hell. Good works and thinking decent thoughts are nothing if you have no belief in God. All that does is make you a "pleasant to know Atheist". We would say, "he wasn't a bad sort for an Atheist" but it would do no good. An Atheist we would probably feel badly about as we saw you in the eternal flames.

And I have never denied god's existence, I just havent found enough evidence that supports that he exists. If god himself parts the hevens and tells me that I have been a fool and need to repent, belive me, I will. But to date he has not.

There will come a time when it is too late to repent...don't wait until you see the four horsemen riding down your street to think..."ohoh time to repent" That won't work. Repenting is done when all is fine in your world and you are happy. You embrace God from love not fear of damnation which you see coming around the corner.

And dont get me wrong, I do admire christians for their ability to hold dearly to their faith (it is one of my rules of life!), I was simply stating that I personaly, and many other athiests, just require concrete proof before we can devote ourselves to something. And I know that most of the theories we believe in dont have concrete proof either, but the reason we believe in them is because more evidence supports them than does the bible.

Bobby-Joe, I do indeed realize that the communist party was athiest, but they were also corrupt, evil men. being athiest had little to do with thier parinoia, and I hate them just as much as you do. However, I thought that the nazi's were christian... but I do not recall at the moment. If anyone could clarify this, I would be Greatly apprieciative. and also, I have never heard of The National Academies of Science. could you please clerify?
And about evolution, you are not the only one with doubts, believe me. I also find it difficult to believe that a random occurance of mutations resulted in cells turning to bacteria, to fish, to lizards, to mammals. If this were the case, wouldnt we continue to evolve? If evolution is true, why did it suddenly stop?

And to everyone else who posted a response directed to me asking why I am here, I do aplologize, I should have been clear from the beggining. I am here to let you know that not all athiests are pompous,
egotistical jerks. Some of us are rather nice people who have simply chosen an alternative lifestyle.

The National Academy of Sciences is an organized group, but they are not atheists. They worship rocks and chemicals and, of course my favorite, stars.

The SUN is the life-giver; the SUN is the pure radiance of being.

You should think about Sun and Star worhship as an alternative to your dumb book.

Most athiests dont even feel any kinship between themselves and other athiests. Also, most Athiests do not come from "cuss-word filthy places." My mother raised me never to use vulgar language, and assuming that a vast majority of people all behave similarly is simply stereotipical.

Proof? You’re the one who believes a magical fish gave birth to a magical monkey that gave birth to a human all without showing the fossil of every creature that ever existed. I am sorry, I don’t buy it. As a Christian I need solid evidence to base my beliefs on, not hypotheticals and possibilities. The Bible is real, evolution is just a theory.

Christians have to rely on faith and faith alone. Sorry we cannot get that proof for you. We are not to tempt the Lord and asking for proof as a condition of belief is tempting the Lord. We accept or we do not.
That might seem weak to you but with all the very strange and bizarre things that do happen to people that have been supported by science...
I think essentially supports the idea of a huge invisible spiritual world.

Unfortunately the examples tend to focus on paranormal rather than spiritual and paranormal interests we are bidden to stay away from.

I try to only surround myself with good Christian folk, but every once in a while I'll have to listen to an atheist assure themselves of eternal damnation. I'm convinced that they are sent by the devil to test our faith.

I often wonder about this myself. If you don't believe in anything, what is there to live for? But instead of decently hanging themselves in their parents' basements or finding a reason for living through Christ, they take out their existential misery on the rest of us.

Ignorance I am afraid. But they aren't willing to learn, and the Landover people aren't always the most welcoming teachers, their offensive comments can be overwhelming, it takes persistence. When I came here I thought liberal Christianity was the way to go - how that opinion has changed! I can only thank Landover for that.
