Cult typically refers to a cohesive social group devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture considers outside the mainstream, with a notably positive or negative popular perception. In common or populist usage, "cult" has a positive connotation for groups of art, music, writing, fiction, and fashion devotees, but a negative connotation for new religious, extreme political, questionable therapeutic, and pyramidal business groups. For this reason, most, if not all, non-fan groups that are called cults reject this label.

How many of you know someone who is hopelessly trapped in a dead-end cult? Have they renounced their friends and family and turned all their worldly possessions over to their 'leader'? Not enough can be said about the dangers of cults and how they brainwash their followers. I hope I haven't missed any in the above list; if I have, please add them to this thread in the interests of educating and informing our True Christian readers.

What exactly would be the point of telling them to repent if you were planning to murder them before they had the chance?

Here at Landover, we're well aware that ANYONE can be Saved(c), if he wants to. Why, Sister Mary Maria's husband Mr. Whitford is a graduate of the Betty Bowers Baptists Are Saving Homersexurals program, and Remy LeBeau is an accomplished ex-Negro!

Even a drunk Homer like Mr. Whitford can open up for the deep, penetrating Love of our Lord Jesus and give up his wicked toe-tapping ways.

That said, Alcoholics Anonymous certainly is a horrible cult. They teach their adherents that they should "let go and let God", as though God is going to drop the entire universe -- dealing with war in Darfur and the Middle East, and the approach of Planet X, and dragons in the British Isles, and drag queens in the New Orleans Wal-Mart aisles -- and rush to stop some self-hating drunk from chugging a beer! And then they have the gall to call this narcissism "humility"! Disgusting!


If you'll pardon me, I must go into my Prayer Closet now and ask the Lord for aid making a rather delicate decision. You see, I'm considering changing from my regular clear nail polish to a white polish, but I'm concerned the Lord may think colored polish unladylike.
