Re: Landover Baptist Church
Too bad. Another sinner has refused to see the light of Christ's Real Truth.
It's sad.
You know, Buddha was not tortured to death. Muhammad did not have to die in agony to fulfill the plans of his god.
Christ must have been the one true messiah, because God found it necessary to torment Him and torture Him before letting him die and be reborn. And we know that God has a real thing for inflicting pain.
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. Revelation 9:5,6
In the past He has promised torment to backsliders:
The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. Deuteronomy 28:22
The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee. Deuteronomy 28:27,28
Oh how I wish people like GLE would sit down with the Bible and let the scales fall from their eyes. God's first name was Vengeful, and His secret name is Blood. Pain, vengefulness, torture, and violent anger fill much of the Bible.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long; and there shall be no might in thine hand.
The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. Deuteronomy 28:32-34
Indeed, if you read the Bible as the clear and honest testimony of the living God, then well might a sinner go mad for the sight which his eyes shall see.
Praise Jesus, the tortured Son of God the Vengeful, God the Jealous.

Re: Landover Baptist Church
Buddha is a fictional character, and he "lived" in India or China or some such chinky country. Nobody hardly eats anything there. They're all malnourished. Also, that ring of fire was probably just to keep away pestilence. If I were in a third world country, I would do likewise. Buddha is hardly impressive, and he's completely made-up. Whichever Hindu or Chinaman concocted him could have given him superhero powers. Nope. Let's have him not eat. A teenage girl can do that.Originally posted by Old Man Winter View Postactually the buddha sat in the middle of a ring of fire eating hardly anything for about 20 years.

Re: Landover Baptist Church
Old Man Winter, what I wrote was "Buddha was not tortured to death."
What part of that statement can you not comprehend? Have you some difficulty with the word was perhaps? Or not? I have often noticed that people of your mental caliber have problems understanding plain English sentences.
Now then.
Brother Hatchet is of course correct: Buddha was mythological as Wotan and Pan. However, my point is simple:
1. On the evidence of the Bible, God is somewhat obsessed with tormenting humans.
2. Jesus was tortured to death, and that is certainly in keeping with God's method of operation.
After all, God could have had Jesus tell a really funny joke and then, as everyone was cracking up over the punchline, raptured Him right up to Heaven on the spot. No need to go through whippings, crucifixion, spears in the side, crowns of thorns, sponges of vinegar, and so forth. Except that God loves blood sacrifice. The more painful the better.
You had better learn to love God, mister!
