I am very sorry to say that I am not in agreement with this. All of God's children were made as they are for a reason. Each serving their own purpose in this land. My younger sister and I were not supposed to be born into this world, and since we have been graced this gift, she has made the top of her class, as well as making my parents proud. My older brother has suffered Cancer for two years, and since he has recovered, he has ran over 30 Kilometer (each) runs to support those who are still suffering. I have helped children from weeks after they were born until they were fit to go to school. I housed my grandfather when he was ill until God lent out his hand to bring him home. I have seen my friends and family fight brothers and sisters for this precious land that we live upon, the reason that you still have a place to hang a flag, that is if you believe in Free Will and Independence that our founding fathers found. if you had any grace on this earth, you wouldn't be talking about people less fortunate than anyone else. you must be on the hell side of god if you can't even say something that doesn't make you sound like the devil himself in someone's body. and YES, I'm talking about those out there who have been blessed to see that of the dark side of the candles on your precious pews that you so called bless with your prayers on Sunday during mass. I am not a heathen just because I follow a different religion than you do. Wicca is an earth/nature based religion. We believe everything comes from the earth and goes back into the earth. I am a solitary Wiccan and will not be for long beause in our state the are building a Wiccan church and Wiccan library. BTW the Wiccan church accepts all faiths. This is 2008 not 1200 B.C. so get with the times. I will not let a man tell me what to do. I am independant and I will speak my mind. I was raised to have tolerance even for people like religious zellets(you).

I do not condone or condemn the practice of Wicca I just post this to show that your assumption that Wiccans will not accept Christians is wrong.

The two traditions are generally seen as at loggerheads with compromise and understanding virtually impossible, however if you look at the situation between Shinto and Christianity there is no such conflict and Shinto is seen as a perfectly respectable tradition in Japan by Christians. Shinto is simply the local pagan tradition and its position is analogous to Wicca. Conflict between Wicca and Christianity is therefore cultural, and we need to look to see if it is necessary. Many Christian parents would be unhappy if their child became a Wiccan. My goal is to show that this concern is unfounded in part by showing Wiccan traditions within the church that are part of its everyday practice.

Okay, I'm a wiccan, so let me spell it out.

GODS
There are many sects and gods of wicca, but it is generally accepted that there are two main gods (Lady and Lord) and a variety of other more minor ones that embody other things. My coven devotes most of our time to the gods and goddesses of the earth, for without her there is no life.

HOLIDAYS
Samhain: End of summer. oct. 31st. We leave out food and light candles in the windows to lead the dead back to where they belong. We set extra places at the table for the unseen guests.

Imbolc: Springtime festival. Scottish for the time of the Ewe's milk. It is the time for planting the crops, the festival of the maidens, and all sorts of other great new-life kinds of things. March 21st.

Beltane: One of eight solar sabbats. celebrated on April 30th or may 1st. Mayday. In the old times, young couples would go out to the woods to spend the night 'A'Maying', before returning in the morning to dance around the may pole. Older couples could cast off their wedding rings and all that they imply for one night. Basically, a huge fertility festival. And the great goddess becomes pregnant by the god, and wedding feasts were prepared.

Lughnasadh: Generally around August 5th. Celebrates the time when the sun god gradually dies as he gives way to winter.

Yule: The solstice, the time when the long winter nights give way to longer spring days.Children were escorted from house to house with gifts of clove spiked apples and oranges which were laid in baskets of evergreen boughs and wheat stalks dusted with flour. The apples and oranges represented the sun, the boughs were symbolic of immortality, the wheat stalks portrayed the harvest, and the flour was accomplishment of triumph, light, and life. Holly, mistletoe, and ivy not only decorated the outside, but also the inside of homes. It was to extend invitation to Nature Sprites to come and join the celebration. A sprig of Holly was kept near the door all year long as a constant invitation for good fortune to pay visit to the residents.
The ceremonial Yule log was the highlight of the festival. In accordance to tradition, the log must either have been harvested from the householder's land, or given as a gift... it must never have been bought. Once dragged into the house and placed in the fireplace it was decorated in seasonal greenery, doused with cider or ale, and dusted with flour before set ablaze be a piece of last years log, (held onto for just this purpose). The log would burn throughout the night, then smolder for 12 days after before being ceremonially put out. Ash is the traditional wood of the Yule log. It is the sacred world tree of the Teutons, known as Yggdrasil. An herb of the Sun, Ash brings light into the hearth at the Solstice.

Ostara: Spring Equinox. The young sun god celebrates a sacred marriage to the Maiden goddess, and in nine months she gives birth and becomes the great mother.

Litha: Summer solstice. The sun god is at his greatest strength, and the night dances with oak fires around which we dance (my coven, all female, does it naked. That's just us.) to reaffirm our faith to the Lady and Lord.

Mabon: Fall Equinox. A time to celebrate the aging Mother Goddess, and to offer libations to the trees, such as cider, wine, herbes, and fertilizers, natural ones that don't harm the trees.

FAMILIARS: A spirit that chooses to walk among the humans who may or may not take a physical form. It may be a cat, it may be a wolf, it may be a surrealistic being beyond comprehension. But it is not a cat posessed by the devil. The bond between a witch and familiar is like nothing else. It breaks telepathy, it breaks transcendentalness, it is beyond anything else you know.

Does your coven meet often? Do you also practice in a solitary setting? Also, just so people know on here that may not be familiar, the dates for all of the sabbats are below.

Samhain/Halloween: October 31

Yule/Winter Solstice: Around December 21

Candlemas/Imbolc: February 2

Ostara/Spring Equinox: Around March 21

Beltane/May Day: April 30 or May 1

Litha/Midsummer/Summer Solstice: Around June 21

Lammas/Lughnasadh: August 1 or August 2

Mabon/Fall Equinox: Around September 21

There may also be additional dates depending on what pantheon if any you are used to working with but these are the basic sabbats as far as Wicca goes. Also there are Full Moons and Dark/New Moons but those dates are different every year so there is no need to try and give them here.

okay, enough I have gone though this entire forum and its frankly childish. I m putting my two sense in cause well both sides have grievously managed to screw up some very important facts. First off Christians were never persecuted by all the emperors of Rome just two and that was Diocletian and Nero and frankly Nero was slightly insane so give the guy a break.Also while your on the subject what about the 3 million Jews who were persecuted by Christians during the 1300's care to explain that cause I m pretty sure it's ironic that you were persecuting your Saviors ethnic group and up until his death Jesus never broke with the Jewish Church. Also I frankly remember Christians murdering every inhabitant of Jerusalem including fellow Christians that has never happened in an Islamic takeover in fact when Muhammad received his vision he offered an olive branch out to both Christian Branches at the time cause baptism was around yet and Christianity wasn't around until second temple Jerusalem but it was rejected but it is still in Sharia or Islamic law to respect the dhimmis or people of the book (ie. Jews, Christians, Hindus, Buddists, and Wiccans). Also I m pretty sure Baptism didn't come around till the Lutheran Reformation so no Christianity hasn't been around since the beginning of time it been around since Jesus's gospel teachings and frankly if you believe in the trinity and the Nicene creed which was presided over by a unbiased party cause in those times the roman empire did not have a specific religion but during Constantine's rule it became a favored religion. However Paganism and Wicca have been around far longer than Gerald Gardener, even in old times there was never blood sacrificing or baby killing, paganism is a peaceful religion that believes in tolerance. There is no such thing as hell only reincarnation and summer land in other words you stay on earth till you learn your lessons you were meant to learn. There is no need for the childish insults being passed around such as changing each others names or saying go to hell last time I checked most of you were adults so why don't you grow a pair and act like it. Also if your going to argue get your facts straight first instead of random phases out of the bible which are not Jesus', considering the bible has been translated from Hebrew to Latin then to the vernacular and most books were written about half a century after his death so it has lost a lot of its original meanings and much were obscured by other peoples interpretations and by the way if you didn't know you borrowed you entire old testament from the Jewish Tanakh. Also to my fellow Wiccans remember the creed and to those Christians who preach fire and brimstone just remember do unto to others what you want to you.
