Some theories:

2. My Thought: Girls feel anxious when there are no strong men around to defend them. Feminist-raised soyboys make their female peers feel defenseless.

3. My Thought: Porn is horrifying. But activists don't send their mobs after porn stars because activists choose their targets by vulnerability, in particular vulnerability to shaming. But Porn is shameless, so porn wins in our survival-of-the-shameless environment.

4. My Thought: Feminist activists have gotten a lot better at their job, and/or communicating with girls via social media. Activists work by scaring the brains out of people (activists even used to call themselves "Agitators").

5. Leftist: Rape culture and male backlash have suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and you can't blame to left for failing to prepare for this completely predictable trend. (Interesting how Leftists always promise Utopia, and then once things fall apart they blame backlash/counter-revolutionaries/Kulak wreckers/CIA plots. Why not warn us ahead of time?)

Well, that's all the theories I can think of right now, but I want a proper Biblical look at this phenomenon.

Whatever happened, it had to happen very recently, very fast - this is why social media and post-9/11 safetyism stand out as likely culprits. Everything else happened slowly, unless there is some sort of "tipping point" or "critical mass" thing going on. But The Coddling Of The American Mind is not exactly heavy on Biblical references.
