I think you are reading too much into God's (unknowable mind). The scripture says Onan was seen by God plying his penile member to completion. For this he was killed.

Thanks. Went to get him up and i caught him right there Masturbating to some Magazine. I gave him a beating and made him pray to the Lord for the rest of the day. Both boy boys are beaten daily. Imagine, you're at a ticking time bomb. It has two wires, a green one and a red one. You know for certain the red one is safe, and that the green one may or may not be safe. Which wire do you cut?
