So I just had a child (within wedlock of course) and she's about a year old and already she's started to act defiant. The Bible says if you spare the rod, you spoil the child. Does this mean I should hit her now? If so should I use a rod? What is a rod exactly? Can someone give me the exact dimensions of said rod?

Re: I need advice
This has been thoroughly discussed in this thread. Basically, the dimensions should be similar to a good, solid walking stick or staff. Myself, I smite my sons with a pickaxe handle when they sass me or otherwise break the LORD's commandments.
By a year or two, they should be able to handle a few relatively light raps across the legs. I waited until my eldest son was four before I really started laying into him, though. Fortunately, they tend to not get terribly sass-mouthed until their bodies are sturdy enough to handle a proper scourging.
I see that you are new. Please go to the Introduction forum and make a thread telling us about yourself, your family, how you came to walk with Christ, and your best pie. This is not the appropriate place for us to properly greet you.
YICII Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony
