Do snakes only attack evil children?

    Dear Christian Friends

The 14th June this summer I was on holiday together with another fine Christian family. We had a great time and were just about ready to taste my dear wife’s lovely homemade blue berry pie, when we suddenly heard a terrible scream from my friends youngest daughter, 3 year old Johanna.
It turned out that she had been very careless and got herself in a dumb situation, as a snake (a European Common Viper) had bit her in her left foot. She kept on screaming like a wicked witch all the way to the hospital, were, thanks to our intense praying, was getting well again. Our vacation, on the other hand, was totally ruined.

    Anyway, here’s my questions:

Why did the snake bite Johanna? She is (as far as I know) a good Christian child and I have always believed that snakes would leave children alone, due to the Isaiah 11:8:

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.”

Is it me who has been misunderstanding Gods words?

If that’s not the case, is it then plausible that little Johanna is not the sweet girl she wants us to believe she is, and God therefore was punishing her for her deceiving behavior?

I hope some of you True Christianscan help me with this (for me) biblical twist.

    Sincerely
    The Salvation Believer

Actually all children should be afraid of snakes.

In the Garden of Eden, the snake tricked Eve into eating of the Tree of Wisdom, so God cursed the snake, Eve and all of their descendants.

And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
    Genesis 3:14-15

The good thing is that Johanna survived the attack. If she had been evil God would probably have made her allergic to snake bites.

What is the common denominators in the last 2 threads.
      1 both involved a snake
      2.both involved a female
I know of nothing in the Bible that says anything about snakes and women, but...

It just may have been Satan searching for someone. Johanna had strayed and was careless and her parents were not watching over her. Leaving Johanna an easy prey for Satan.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

Your kind answers, and several hours in the praying closet, made me realise that I have been looking at this episode all wrong.
When come to think of it, I remember Johanna telling us, that she would rather have an apple pie instead of my wifes wonderful blueberry pie - a pie that is most certain blessed by God.
During my time in the praying closet, God told me to read Numbers 21:5-6, and indeed it suddenly all made sense to me. Praise The Lord.

          Numbers 21:5-9 (King James Version)

5And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. 6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

Yes, snakes ONLY attack evil or possessed children.

Yes, I think she was bitten because she did not want to eat the pie that was blessed by God. That is why the snake bit her. I think reasons like this are why all snakes decide to bite humans.

Re: Do snakes only attack evil children?

Handling serpents is clearly a matter of faith.

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

It's such a shame this child didn't have enough faith.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.
