Absolutely pathetic! Accept the word of God totally or reject Him totally. I may disagree with an atheist but at least a part of me can respect him for being brave enough to make a decision. By choosing all the bits you like from multiple faiths you have chosen intellectual cowardice. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    -Conservative (who votes Republican)

and I also am instructed, 5 days a week, in Christian Biblical Theology.

What I would like to point out, is a look at the words of CHRIST, not simply the Old Testament Jewish Law, also known as the Law of Moses.
You started out so well, too. You introduced yourself as a conservative, Christian American who goes to Church twice a week and takes the study of theology very seriously, but then it all went wrong.

I don't have too much time on my hands at the moment to write this all out, so to be spared the time of citing my biblical references, I'll leave it to you to research them on your own time. A quick copy and paste into an online search bar should do the trick.
If you can't be bothered to include scriptural references in your post, then why should we even bother responding to it? I suggest you re-read the book of Proverbs and keep an eye out for all of it's mentions of slothfulness. I'll get you started.

"The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour."
    Proverbs 21:25

Nevertheless, I would love it if you learned about what the Bible really says about the points you brought up, so I'll give you a response.

Jesus, the Incarnate Word of God, gave two commandments: To love God with all of your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. He did not come to abolish the Law of Moses, but to FULFILL it. Jesus is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and end of all things. The world was created through the Word, and so too all things must be in him to be saved.
Jesus did not only give two commandments, but instead was clarifying what the two greatest commandments of all were. Jesus actually gave a great number of commandments, and also re-stated a number of Old Testament commandments. Since that is the case, then wouldn't you agree it makes sense to follow ALL of the commandments given in the Bible (except for those that were specifically repealed, namely sin offerings and the dietary laws)?

Here are just a few examples of the commandments Jesus gave:

Jesus commanded us not to make a show of fasting:

"Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly."
    Matthew 6:16-18

We're also commanded to wash the feet of other believers:

"If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet."
    John 13:14

BUT, Jesus NEVER said ANYTHING about degrading women. His 12 apostles were all male, but his disciples, his students, as the word disciple means, numbered in the hundreds, if not thousands, and they included both men AND women. Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the dead, before entering the city of Jerusalem, he loved dearly. Even Mary, the former harlot was a beloved disciple of his. Nowhere does Jesus degrade the women who followed him, treat them as less-than-equal to the men who followed Him, or deny them the right to come to him for repentance and salvation.
Jesus may not have had too much to say on the differences between the sexes, but Paul certainly did. I'm assuming the Greek Orthodox church accepts the Pauline Epistles as scripture?

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord."
    Colossians 3:18

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing."
    Ephesians 5:22-24

"Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."
    1 Timothy 2:11-15

Of course, there are other parts of the New Testament that talks about the role of women, so let me know if you'd like me to show you some more scripture.

Oh, and by the way, nowhere in the Bible does it say Mary Magdalene was a harlot.

So to say that rape, which is a crime, a defilement, and a breach of security to a person, is okay, is bologna. To treat a person, with a rational soul, created by God himself, as if they are property, to be used and abused as desired, to justify those actions is a pigheaded mentality, and is completely missing the message of Christ, who is God in the flesh.
Well, Jesus DID talk about the Ten Commandments (Mark 10:19 and Luke 18:20) and he didn't say anything had been changed. I know He was aware of this commandment:

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's."
    Exodus 20:17

Seems to imply people can be property, doesn't it?

And to justify this false message of male-superiority with Old Testament Biblical references is to miss the point entirely. CHRISTIANS ARE NOT JEWS. At the council of Jerusalem in Acts, it was determined that gentile converts did NOT have to be circumcised or follow the Jewish fast, THEREFORE saying that Christians were NOT bound by the Old Law of Moses, but Jesus had liberated us from slavery to that Law, and now we had a real chance at salvation in HIM.
So just because gentile converts don't need to be circumcised or need to follow the Jewish fast, we can safely throw away all of the Old Testament? Doesn't that sound like interpreting to you?

"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation."
    2 Peter 1:20

The New Testament is hidden in the Old, but the Old is fulfilled in the New. One without the other is to miss the big picture, and to base opinions on social order solely on the words of ancient Jews in the Old Testament is to miss the basis of Christianity entirely. Christians aren't bound to the Bible alone, but to Christ, God himself.
Yes, and Jesus Himself told us that the Old Testament law IS STILL VALID.

"Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
    Matthew 5:17-18

Now, does you think heaven and earth have passed?

Christ, God Himself said, in our own human, material world, that we were to treat each other as we wanted to be treated ourselves, so this hypocrisy and brutality of making women into creatures less-than-human, or beast-like will NOT merit you salvation. This is the kind of hate-spewing bologna that is brought about by Satan, the Deceiver.
But the New Testament specifically calls Lot (the man who offered up his daughters' cooters to a wild gang of men, if you remember) a righteous man.

"And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds; ) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:"
    2 Peter 2:7-9

Don't you think Peter (and, by extension, God, since all of the Bible is divinely inspired) wouldn't have called Lot righteous if they didn't approve of his actions?

The twisting of Biblical words into a message of hate is exactly what is spoken of in Revelations. A great apostasy will come across the world, and it's a shame that so many are led by a message of false-Christianity. This type of mentality is NOT what Jesus taught, and if I may be so bold, is the exact same type of pride that led to the Fall of humanity in the first place. This is exactly what Jesus came to save us from, not to endorse.
I think I've explained to you how we are NOT twisting scripture here, but please feel free to post any examples of scripture you think we are interpreting.

Please, I implore you, see reason. Stop this message of hate, or maybe (again, if I may be so bold, for nobody but God alone knows this) you yourselves will be the ones in eternal damnation.
You think God would eternally damn people for following the Bible EXACTLY as it's written? What kind of sick monster do YOU worship?

People who are damned are damned by their own decision, through their actions they have turned their souls against God, and at their deaths, their soul simply CAN'T reside with God in heaven, because by their own free will they have turned themselves away from our Savior. That does NOT mean, however, that God chooses some to be saved, and enjoys watching souls being tormented in hell. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son" are the direct words I believe (please excuse me if I have not written them verbatim). Jesus Christ, who IS God, sacrificed himself for the salvation of the world, so that we may rise up out of the Sin of Adam and be raised with Him to eternal salvation.
Ah, John 3:16. That's really a lovely verse, but why don't we look at it context?

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
    John 3:16-18

You'll notice there's a bit more than "For God so loved the world".

However, please don't think this means God loves EVERYBODY. There are some people He just hates.

"As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."
    Romans 9:13

So that's where my belief in a loving God clashes with the way I interpreted your earlier statements sir. If we can reconcile our differing opinions, I would be very happy. This is after all, a public place of religious conversation no?
We can reconcile our differences if you agree to start worshiping Jesus correctly. I'd love to see you in Heaven one day!

@Pastor Ezekiel: Thank you for your welcome, I shall introduce myself properly in the right section

@Cranky Old Man: Your accusations that my statements contain no Biblical basis are false. I assure you I did not make this up simply to cause trouble, I want to have a genuine conversation about this topic, in a respectful way. Your baseless ramblings contain zero Holy Scripture. Please stop insulting Jesus Christ and start quoting the Holy Bible. And stop your twisting of the Truth®, God does not allow it!
