While Pastor Zeke has covered this countless times on Sundays, I thought a columnist's views would add to Pastor Zeke's message. A poster on a Christian site pointed out that while lightening and floods have wiped out millions of sinners over time, God does not prefer this kind of punishment. Instead, God enjoys the long game. That is, painful and extended suffering.
Let's remember the AIDS epidemic among homers. Death came only after a long miserable period of time. More recently, long covid has taken away the ability of sinners to walk and put them in pain with no cure.
Today, trans people are denied any place to use a public restroom. This, in time, will take a toll on the health of those who put their figure in the eye of Jesus. In Romans 6:23 we get the short answer about sin, the wages of sin is death. The longer answer comes from watching God put his thumb down slowly and painfully.
The most common and awful way God punishes sin
