Nobody here has said anything about that.
What we DID say however, is that Ramadan starts and ends with a new moon.
The physical sighting of the moon is important..
WHY SO? Why is the moon so important to you, I wonder..

You use crescent on your mosque, so you worship the moon.
We also use the Cross on ALL OF OUR LIVES, but thats a different case.
The cross is for obvious reasons very closely associated with Jesus..
Are you admitting that the moon is closely associated with Islam?
How is that? Just what does "allah" have to do with the moon, I wonder?

People of Arabia worshiped moon God before Islam, so you do too.
No, but since you worship your "allah" with exactly the same rites at the Kaba as the moon worshippers did..
The practice is EXACTLY the same, it's just that for you, your god is named "Allah" instead of "Al-Ilah" or "Hubal"..
    What a big difference.

Yes, of course your religion cannot have originated in pagan moon worship..
How could we ever think that? After all, the rites are only exactly the same, the symbol for your religions is exactly the same..
And the name of your respective gods actually differ with ONE WHOLE LETTER!
    The difference is so HUGE!

How could one EVER think you are basically the same religion?
    Stop acting like a fool.

These are merely stupid observation. I can do the same about Christianity, but I don't.
    Total coincidences right?

You see, if you are so sure about this, quote the Koran and Hadith that we worship moon god and I will leave Islam, you know, I follow Koran and Hadith, I don't follow some stupid observation like these. Does it get any easier than this??
Why do you need to use the above stupid observations if you are so sure??
Yes, of course a partial pro-Islamic document desperatly pushing the idea that you are not pagans, but monotheistic worshippers of God..
Are going to admit that you worship the moon!
    Right.

As I said, you're only trying to weasel your way out of this.
Why don't you try refuting our claims if you are you so sure Islam is the right way, instead of sticking your head in the sand?

    No, you see.. I don't.

I can prove that Islam uses the exact same rites at the Kaba as the pagans did, without using the Qu'ran.
    Because those practices predates Islam.

I can prove that Hubal was worshipped at the Kaba before "allah" was, without the Qu'ran.
Because before Muhammed, NOBODY attributed Kaba to this "allah" charcater.

I can also prove that the pagan moon worshippers used the crescent moon as a symbol, before you did.. without the Qu'ran.
Because that's a historic fact, predating Islam.

Do you need to use the Qu'ran to prove the existance of, let's say, Babylon? (ie it has existed.)
No, of course not. So why would I need the Qu'ran to prove anything about religions PREDATING the Qu'ran?
    I DON'T.

Mohammed claimed that Kaba truly "belonged" to "allah" but nobody had heard of such a "god" before Mohammed's preachings.

Yes, I deny that Mohammed tribes worshiped a God Named Allah, as I mentioned before, they worshiped up to 360 idols, each one of them considered "ALILAH" which means "The God"

Why would the authors of the Koran enter into it proofs that it was false? Don't be ridiculous.
    What do you mean here??

    A great refutation. "SO!!"

I am saying "SO!!" because I don't see the point you are making!!

The symbol of the moon god named Allah that Mohammed's tribe worshipped just HAPPENED to carry into Islam. And there's apparently no explanation whatsoever for the use of the crescent moon as a symbol of Islam, it's just "decoration"?!

Christians do not worship any items, but use crosses to remind us of Jesus' great sacrifice of temporary death. (He was nailed to a cross, in case you didn't know.) Christian churches do not typically use stained glass; that is a Catholic thing, where they make pictures of "saints" in the glass. We are Christians, not Catholics.

Ah, again your great argument of "SO!!". It's so meaningful.
I am saying "SO!!" because I don't see the point you are making!!

This is followed by, "someone else did something similar, so that means that it can't have any religious significance to Muslims!" Sorry. Not going to work.

I am just using your logic. How come your logic works on us, but doesn't work Chinese?? Or you??
Or are you saying that your logic is incorrect??

You've also still not explained the significance of the crescent moon. Surely it's there for a reason.

To be honest, I don't know the significance of the crescent moon.

Again, "SO!!" is your great refutation.
I am saying "SO!!" because I don't see the point you are making!!
    I'm not convinced.
I keep saying "SO!!" because all your arguments make no sense at ALL. I am saying "SO!!" because I want more explanations of the proofs you have provided.

You certainly do. You believe what the Koran says, based on what someone claims that an illiterate named Mohammed said.

How do you even know that Mohammed said the things in the Koran? He couldn't read or write, and could not in any way proofread what was being written!

    Yet you believe it.

Thats the miracle of Islam. Arabia was famous of Literature and Poetry. God sent an illiterate man to challenge them with the words of God.
I believe the Koran, because it makes full sense, fair, logical, scientific and doesn't contradict with common sense.

After I addressed all your points, lets try this experiment.

Go to your Church, get a cross from there and bring it.
I will do the same, I will go to a mosque that has a crescent moon and bring it.

Then, each should disrespect the item. Disrespecting the item shows that it has no holy value whatsoever.

For example, I can through the crescent moon in the sewer system. Will that prove to you that it has no value whatsoever??

Will you do the same to the cross??

    Finally,
Let me tell you something that will end this really quick. Bring me a Koranic verse or a saying of the prophet that says we worship a moon God, and I will leave Islam as soon as I verify the proof, will that work for you?? I am sure this is an easy task for you since your are very sure about my religion than I am.

If you cannot do the above, then please, please, please make sense with your arguments so I don't have to keep saying "SO".

Even Muslims believe that Jesus walked the earth. They believe he had no earthly mother, but that is beside the point. God created Jesus, and therefore was the father. Christianity differs from the Koran, in that we know that Jesus was the actual son of God. Jesus was the physical manifestation of God on earth, therefore they were one.

Yes we believe that Jesus walked the earth. And you are wrong to say he had no earthly mother. His mother was Mary, thats why he is refered to as Jesus the son of Mary in the Koran.
God created Jesus, which makes him a creator.

God has never appeared in physical form to humans. Even your Koran says that an angel came to Mohammed to tell him God's words. I would imagine, although I may be wrong, that if God appeared before a lowly human, that human would be incinerated by God's power. Humans have heard his voice though, and that is God speaking through the spirit.

Are you saying there is one God, who shape shift into three forms(father, son, spirit)?? If you say that, then it would make sense.

However, in our case, we have three things, each one is God, each one co-exist with others, each one can communicate with the others!! How is that one God??

Even you must know that nothing has just one side. Are you just one thing? I am a father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, ect.

Yes I am one thing that is a father, at the same time a son, at the same time a brother, at the same time cousin, uncle, boss, citizen.

You are one thing too. There is only one Dr. Davidson. There are no Davidson the Son, father, cousin, brother, boss, uncle etc.. They are all you. THEY DON"T CO-EXIST.

I think that covers your points.

" The blessed name "Allaah" is derived from the Arabic verb alaha/ya’lahu/ma’looh [the root of which is the three letters alif, laam, haa’]. This verb includes the meaning of love as well as worship. Allaah is the One Who is loved, glorified and feared by the believers, and they put their hope in Him."

This is matter of Arabic language. You see Allah is a name, Ilah is a noun meaning God. When you want to say "The God", you add "Al". So, the God translates to "Alilah".
And surely there were many of the "The God" or "Alilah" before Islam, but none were named Allah.

    Re: Moon God

How about some of the actual moon-god research?

Isn't that the point of this thread?

Here's a starting point, from THIS page:

    Muhammad learned monotheism from Christians

Muslims today believe the myth that Muhammad introduced monotheism to the area around Mecca and Arabia in general. The truth is that Muhammad got tired of the Christians constantly preaching monotheism to him fellow Arabs, knowing in his heart, that they were correct in their criticism of Arab paganism. There can be little doubt that Christians, in their evangelism of the are around Mecca, charged the Arabs with paganism and polytheism. Christians criticized those worshipping 260 pagan gods at the Kabah and offered Christianity as a far superior monotheistic religion. In his heart, Muhammad knew the Christians were right and had a better religion of monotheism. But some Muslims today, are totally ignorant of the fact that monotheism was widely preached before, during and after the rise of Muhammad, by the Christians. It was a well known theology and the Arabs were familiar with it. Amazingly, today Muslims criticize as polytheists, the very one’s who taught Muhammad about monotheism! By the time Muhammad came along, the pagan Arabs were ripe for conversion to Monotheism because of the preaching of Christians.

Muhammad was only one of several preachers of monotheism in the Arabia of his day. (Islam: Muhammad and His Religion, Arthur Jeffery, 1958, p 85)

The milieu of the prophet was not one, however, of polytheistic paganism untouched by any other influences. As in South Arabia, so too in North the monotheistic faiths of Judaism and Christianity had long since become known. (The Archeology Of World Religions, Jack Finegan, 1952, p482-485, 492)

The old Arabian paganism was at that time in a process of disintegration, but Judaism and Christianity were widely represented in the peninsula, and to a lesser extent Zoro-astrianism and certain Gnostic sects. Several preachers of monotheism had arisen and each had gained a following, but it was Muhammad who succeeded in syncretizing certain basic elements of Judaeo-Christian faith and practice with native Arabian beliefs and, by his own burning faith in his mission and indomitable courage in carrying out that mission, initiated what has become one of the world religions of our day. (Islam: Muhammad and His Religion, Arthur Jeffery, 1958, p xi-xiv)

It seems equally certain that Allah was not merely a god in Mecca but was widely regarded as the "high god," the chief and head of the Meccan pantheon, perhaps the result, as has been argued, of a natural progression toward henotheism or of the growing influence of Jews and Christians in the peninsula." Allah, the moon god of the Kaba:
There are a number of scholars who believe that Allah, was originally the name of the moon god of Northern Arabia. It is important to remember that the word "Allah" simply means "the god" and corresponds to "ho theos" in the Greek New Testament as "the God" which refers to the Father in John 1:1 and the Son in John 20:28 and Heb 1:8. What is interesting is that Hubal was the top pagan moon god of the Kabah. So Allah is the generic and Hubal, may have been the actual name, in the same way that "the God" is generic and "Jehovah" is the name. The Arabs may have referred to "Hubal" as "Allah", just like Jews would refer to "Jehovah" as "The God".
    1. "Allah, the Supreme Being of the Mussulmans: Before Islam. That the Arabs, before the time of Muhammed, accepted and worshipped, after a fashion, a supreme god called Allah,--"the Ilah, or the god, if the form is of genuine Arabic source; if of Aramaic, from Alaha, "the god"—seems absolutely certain. Whether he was an abstraction or a development from some individual god, such as Hubal, need not here be considered...But they also recognized and tended to worship more fervently and directly other strictly subordinate gods...It is certain that they regarded particular deities (mentioned in 1iii. 19-20 are al-‘Uzza, Manat or Manah, al-Lat’; some have interpreted vii, 179 as a reference to a perversion of Allah to Allat as daughters of Allah (vi. 100; xvi, 59; xxxvii, 149; 1iii, 21); they also asserted that he had sons (vi. 100)..."There was no god save Allah". This meant, for Muhammed and the Meccans, that of all the gods whom they worshipped, Allah was the only real deity. It took no account of the nature of God in the abstract, only of the personal position of Allah. ...ilah, the common noun from which Allah is probably derived..." (First Encyclopedia of Islam, E.J. Brill, 1987, Islam, p. 302)
    2. Allah. Islamic name for God. Is derived from Semitic El, and [Allah] originally applied to the Moon; he [Allah] seems to have been preceded by Ilmaqah, the Moon-god. Allat is the female counterpart of Allah. (Everyman’s Dictionary of Non-Classical Mythology, Egerton Sykes, Godspeed, Allah)
    3. The Bedouin's astral beliefs centred upon the moon, in whose light he grazed his flocks. Moon-worship implies a pastoral society, whereas sun-worship represents a later agricultural stage. In our own day the Moslem Ruwalah Bedouins imagine that their life is regulated by the moon, which condenses the water vapours, distils the beneficent dew on the pasture and makes possible the growth of plants. On the other hand the sun, as they believe, would like to destroy the Bedouins as well as all animal and plant life. (History Of The Arabs, Philip K. Hitti, 1937, p 96-101)
    4. There are stories in the Sira of pagan Meccan praying to Allah while standing beside the image of Hubal. (Muhammad's Mecca, W. Montgomery Watt, Chapter 3: Religion In Pre-Islamic Arabia, p26-45)
    5. "The relation of this name, which in Babylonia and Assyrian became a generic term simply meaning ‘god’, to the Arabian Ilah familiar to us in the form Allah, which is compounded of al, the definite article, and Ilah by eliding the vowel ‘i’, is not clear. Some scholars trace the name to the South Arabian Ilah, a title of the Moon god, but this is a matter of antiquarian interest" (Islam, Alfred Guillaume, 1956, p 6-7)
    6. "The first pre-Islamic inscription discovered in Dhofar Province, Oman, this bronze plaque, deciphered by Dr. Albert Jamme, dates from about the second century A.D. and gives the name of the Hadramaut moon good Sin and the name Sumhuram, a long-lost city....The moon was the chief deity of all the early South Arabian kingdoms—particularly fitting in that region where the soft light of the moon brought the rest and cool winds of night as a relief from the blinding sun and scorching heat of day. In contrast to most of the old religions with which we are familiar, the moon god is male, while the sun god is his consort, a female. The third god of importance is their child, the male morning star, which we know as the planet Venus...The spice route riches brought them a standard of luxurious living inconceivable to the poverty-stricken South Arabian Bedouins of today. Like nearly all Semitic peoples they worshipped the moon, the sun, and the morning star. The chief god, the moon, was a male deity symbolized by the bull, and we found many carved bulls’ heads, with drains for the blood of sacrificed animals." (Qataban and Sheba, Wendell Phillips, 1955, p. 227)
    7. "...a people of Arabia, of the race of the Joktanites...the Alilai living near the Red Sea in a district where gold is found; their name, children of the moon, so called from the worship of the moon, or Alilat." (Gesenius Hebrew and Chaldee Lexicon to the Old Testament Scriptures, translated by Samuel Prideaux Tregelles, 1979, p. 367)
    8. Allat, according to recent study of the complicated inspirational evidence, is believed to have been introduced into Arabia from Syria, and to have been the moon goddess of North Arabia. If this is the correct interpretation of her character, she corresponded to the moon deity of South Arabia, Almaqah, `Vadd, `Amm or Sin as he was called, the difference being only the oppositeness of gender. Mount Sinai (the name being an Arabic feminine form of Sin) would then have been one of the centers of the worship of this northern moon goddess. Similarly, al-`Uzza is supposed to have come from Sinai, and to have been the goddess of the planet Venus. As the moon and the evening star are associated in the heavens, so too were Allat and al-`Uzza together in religious belief, and so too are the crescent and star conjoined on the flags of Arab countries today.
