I was so proud of our Iowa Republican Senator, Joni Ernst, in her rebuttal of Obama's State of the Union Speech last night. She showed that she was not about to delve into the same crass retail politics as the President. Her remarks were about policy instead of politics.

The way she stuck with policy was by telling the story of her mother giving her bread bags over her only pair of shoes as a child to keep the shoes dry. She pointed out that if did not hurt her one bit.

It has always seemed peculiar to me that some liberal church groups have fund drives to buy poor children new shoes. So practical and inexpensive it would be if these lazy children were given bread bags until the found work and could buy their own shoes at the local mall.

Well good for her! I recall when most mothers were thrifty and clever and knew how to stretch a dollar by shopping for bread and shoe liners in the same aisle at the Shop 'n Save. Now apparently, people have to have designer socks or demand Welfare checks.

There was the usual reception at the Kirkwood Hotel Ballroom after Senator Joni's TV appearance. I tried to speak with her but even people like myself who have known her from way back had to stand in line. I went home.

What I wanted to tell her was that she missed a great opportunity to bond with True Christians™. The first thing she should have said was her husband approved of her speaking there.

The second thing was to apologize for not popping out a single Soldier for Christ. She has but one daughter.

These are things she will learn from experience, but the sooner she masters them the better.

It really burns me up when certain self important journalists dig out information which is private.

What they are doing today is showing the public the Ernst family farms received $450,000 in subsidies from the Federal Government. They are claiming this money could have bought Little Joni Ernst a few pairs of shoes.

The press has no right to dig into the public records and report this kind of stuff. They are doing it just to make the Ernst family look wealthy when Senator Ernst needs a good story for her Presidential ambitions.

I'm telling our people in Congress they need to pass laws prohibiting the release of who receives public farm payments.

Our Lord and Savior didnt wear shoes. I have never seen one picture of him wearing Air Jordans, Doc Martins, Chuck Taylors and certainly never Ugg boots.

Little Joni Ernst could have had some shoes if her parents hadn't had to pay such high taxes to the Democrat's welfare state. What would Jesus do? He would render unto Caesar and then get it back in subsidies (minus the 50% handling fee to pay the federal bureaucrats). It's usually called bringing home the bacon - which is why the Godly US will never be an Islamic country despite Obama's best efforts.

Oh the hypocrisy of these Media Matters types - let's audit their tax returns to see if they are really interested in spreading the wealth around, or if they take every available tax deduction - or drink farm subsidized milk or eat food produced from farm subsidized crops sold a lower prices.
