Paul Ryan strong on family values

I was gladdened to see new Speaker of the house, Paul Ryan ( R ), stand strong on family values this week by insisting that he never have to work weekends, which is time he's reserved for his family: "I cannot and will not give up my family time," Ryan said earlier this month as a condition of his candidacy for House speaker.

He expanded further in a TV appearance on Fox News on... uhh... on Sunday:

ROBERTS: There are many people in this country who would like to see you make your first priority legislation that gives people the backing of the federal government so that they can have time with their families. Would you make that one of your priorities?

RYAN: I don’t think people asked me to be speaker so that I can take more money from hardworking taxpayers to create some new federal entitlement.

But I think people want to have members of Congress that represent them. That are like them. Don’t you want your member of Congress to be a citizen legislator, who lives with you, among you, who has your own kinds of concerns? Who wants to spend time with his children on Saturdays and Sundays?
Exactly Mr Ryan. We, the hardworking taxpayers, want to pay you to fight mercilessly to prevent federal money being spent on lazy slackers that want weekends off. Except on the weekend, of course. We, the hardworking taxpayers, want someone normal to represent us who understands that weekends are sacred family time. Now go home and get some rest to prepare for that merciless fighting, first thing Monday. Go get 'em!

Is there any way he can join the Presidential Race at this stage? I feel this is a candidate who speaks on my level. Perhaps VP to The Donald? The Donald could cover weekends so that Mr Ryan can keep his family time.

If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

Re: Paul Ryan strong on family values

I think, much like Donald Trump, Paul Ryan is saying he is in favor of people being good negotiators. Congress receives a six figure income, that doesn't mean they want to legislate six figure incomes become the new minimum wage. Paul Ryan didn't need the government to legislate that he get time off on the weekends. He was able to get it through negotiation. Paul Ryan is giving the same right to everyone else. If they can negotiate time off on the weekends for themselves, they can have it.
Close minded people are just right people who don't want to spend time arguing.

So he's fighting for our Freedom as well?

It sounds good in theory, but what if certain types start demanding special days off work during negotiations - Fridays for instance. That is an affront to my Christian values and I would want something done about it at the federal level.
