    Democracy: Unbiblical and Unwise

The United States of America has undertaken a grand and noble experiment over the last 250 years, dedicating itself to government by the collective will of the people as expressed in our tradition of voting. Unfortunately, this experiment has been a total failure, and it's time to bring it to a close. Just consider a few of the costs that our democratic system has imposed on us:

    1) The will of the people caused us to falter in the 1970's and abandon the anti-communist forces in Vietnam. The communist takeover that resulted is the reason that so much of the world lives under communism today.

    2) To appease the forces of laziness, we pay huge taxes for social services that are delivered to people who have different colored skin, listen to different music, eat different foods, worship the Pope and saints instead of worshipping Jesus, or are much older than we are. But they still aren't satisfied, which is why our Democrat-led cities have all gone up in flames and look like bombed-out Berlin now.

    3) Freedom of the press has led to a brand of politics in which far-left leaders like Joe Hiden can get the most outrageous lies printed in the lamestream media without any consequences. An authoritarian regime would impose national fact checking. That would enable the government to quash vile untruths. For example, if the liberal media had not been permitted to spread the lie that coronavirus is worse than a mild flu, we'd all be leading normal lives today.

    4) Liberal judges run rampant, making arbitrary laws from the bench rather than interpreting the law. Without those activist judges, people would not be able to marry others of the same sex, purchase condoms, or violate racially restrictive covenants in home title deeds that let us keep our suburban neighborhoods intact and our schools safe from the crime and immorality that invariably accompany the presence of minorities.

So, why has democracy failed us? The answer is simple--democracy is not supported by the Bible! There was no President David building God's temple. It wasn't President Solomon who conquered nearly the entire Middle East for the glorification of the Lord. No, it took a strong leader with absolute power to lead God's people. And that's what the Bible demands of us today, for its rules are eternal.

This is why I support President Trump.

Amen, Brother! We are being ruled by (1) damned foreigners and (2) coffin-dodgers.

There is much to be criticized in the British monarchical system - not least that there has been a woman in sole charge for almost 70 years. Plus, of course, she has always been a German and is now a geriatric.

    Exodus 34:6-7
And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

But there is nothing wrong with the principle of the system. This is why I support not just President Trump, but his whole family. Even Tiffany.

I mentioned this to a liberal-minded friend who said that King Solomon provided for many people by effectively taxing prosperous citizens. This seemed unusual to me. Why wouldn't he simply pay contractors a standard rate for work done? "No," I was informed, "Remember he had a substantial number of women who'd otherwise have no means of support!"

Well I knew about the wives and concubines. I'm not sure exactly what their duties were but as far as canoodling is concerned and since there were a thousand of them, let's allow the King three a day. He'd have to sleep so we're down to sixteen hours. Then he'd need to do some oversight of administration, together with solving all the problems brought to him because he was the wisest man ever to have lived, for which I'm allowing eight hours (and assuming the King was highly efficient) so canoodling time is down to eight hours daily.

Three canoodles a day is one thousand and ninety-five per annum which after Sabbaths are subtracted leaves nine hundred and thirty-nine. "OK," my friend interrupted, "I get the idea - you don't need to factor in leap years & surplus days of their calendric system."

In the available eight hours, then, each wife/concubine would come up on rotation once a year for 2 hours 40 minutes. I could see my friend's point. What would they do for the other 8,757 hours 20 minutes? Neither the king's wives nor his mistresses, surely, would be expected to work in so abundant a society.

note 1 - Flour (fine) and meal are 30 and 60 measures respectively and in Ezekiel 45:11 relative capacities are given. Ceramic measures exist from the period, some with a label enabling the standard 1 measure (depicted) to be determined.

note 2 - Fattened animals are necessarily domesticated, as are pasture-fed cattle. Fowl are not specified so I've included a few indigenous species with quantities based on how easy they are to catch. For the venison it's assumed they were hunted and quantities are estimated from availability, size and ease of transport.

My friend was not interested in consumption rates of venison by concubines so I haven't bothered with that but my question is whether Solomon really invented social services as was suggested to me? Dollar values per person should be fairly easy to work out and confirms that Israel was a very extensive agricultural power and certainly not democratic.
