The French flounder in much the way a caged negra does: the futility is realized, but that doesn't stop them from (almost comically) spitting and grabbing at everything they can reach. I have never met a frenchman that hasn't attempted to earn his way into Heaven(c) through buying nice clothes or acting snotty instead of donating all of his money to Landover as he should. At this point I no longer associate with anyone of French decent -- too much chance of demon-infection.
