  • Tea Party Permit

Some folks stopped by my office yesterday to inquire about the permit needed to hold a Teaparty in Freehold (Freehold, IA, is the home of Landover Baptist Church).

Since the Mayor issues these kind of permits, I want to be sure that what takes place is in Freehold's best interests. I hope the community finds these rules reflect our values in Freehold.

    1. The gathering must begin and end with prayers that mention, specifically, Jesus Christ.

    2. Sidewalk and street right-of-way rules must be followed.

    3. Loudspeakers and bullhorns must not disturb normal activities in Freehold.

    4. People who dress as homosexuals will be removed.

    5. Speeches about less government must be truthful. Thus, less government in our lives does not mean ending the tax exemption on Landover Baptist properties. Medicare and the Veteran's hospital are not socialized medicine. The new tax for our Creation Museum North is the same as higher taxes. And, lastly, a larger military is not a larger government.

    Have a wonderful Teaparty.
    JJH, Mayor

    Re: Tea Party Permit

I heard that there were going to be free hotdogs between 2 and 3 p.m. I'm going to stand in line for a while and get at least three, but I don't plan to attend the rally. What's the point? I've been on the news before. It's not that great.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.
