It's miserable being an American nowadays. Our President is a clown, a muttering, stuttering fool with his foot in his mouth, reading absent-mindedly off a teleprompter. We long for the days when we had a real, coherent, intelligent man in the White House. Let us post our fondest memories of the great truisms of Mr. George W. Bush (He's still MY president, no matter what anyone says
)
Not a quote, but a great moment none the less

First, let me make it very clear, poor people aren't necessarily killers. Just because you happen to be not rich doesn't mean you're willing to kill.
A leadership is someone who brings people together.
Not over my dead body will they raise your taxes.
Uhh — Gosh, I — don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those, uhh, exaggerations.
Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We've heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tahnks — tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided. We have an obligation to call this what it is, the false comfort of appeasement.

I don't like to put words in leaders' mouths. I don't particularly like it when people put words in my mouth, either, by the way, unless I say it.

Mother is coming out of the hospital. I hope they don't put this on TV, but she's a tough old bird — whose spirits are soaring high.

And so you know what the lesson is in life? Just do what you think is right. Make decisions based upon principle.
Dubya's advice: It doesn't matter if anyone else thinks what you're doing is wrong. Your viewpoint is the only thing that matters. Nashville, Tennessee, Jul. 19, 2007

Hamas, obviously, if they're interested in a sustainable cease-fire, needs to stop arming. And then, of course, countriescontingent to the Gaza need to work to stop the smuggling. And it's a difficult — difficult task. I mean, there's tunnels and, you know, great opportunities for people who want to continue to try to disrupt democracy to provide the weapons to do so.

By undertaking new cooperation on civil nuclear energy, India will be able to count on a reliable fuel supply for its civilian reactors, meet the energy demands of its people, and reduce its independence on fossil fuels. White House, Oct. 8, 2008
He is, uhh — you know, I've had a — my third conversation with him, and, uhh, I, I, I, I generally mean what I say, I, I — wish him all the very best. I've found him to be a very smart and engaging person.

I've thought long and hard about Katrina — you know, could I have done something differently, like land Air Force One either in New Orleans or Baton Rouge. The problem with that and — is that law enforcement would have been pulled away from the mission. And then your questions, I suspect, would have been, how could you possibly have flown Air Force One into Baton Rouge, and police officers that were needed to expedite traffic out of New Orleans were taken off the task to look after you?

In terms of the economy, look, I inherited a recession, I am ending on a recession.... Now, obviously these are very difficult economic times. When people analyze the situation, there will be — this problem started before my presidency, it obviously took place during my presidency. The question facing a President is not when the problem started, but what did you do about it when you recognized the problem.

Right after the attacks I made it abundantly clear that we would bring people to justice for our own security. And made it abundantly clear that if a group of people harbored a terrorist, they were equally as guilty as a terrorist. And we gave the Taliban an opportunity to respond. They didn't. And American troops proudly liberated the people of Afghanistan. That's what life was like. And we could have replaced one power person with another. That would have been, I guess, the easy route, and then just left it behind, say we've done our duty and we've upheld the doctrine — and said, okay, we're now going to take this group, replace them with this group — and just got out of the way. But that's not — that, one, didn't learn the lessons of the '80s and the '90s.

First thing that Medicare has done is it says that if you're — when you join Medicare, you get preventative screenings. Put in Texas terms, in order to solve something, you got to diagnose it.
Here's what I believe. I believe that the great city of New Orleans will rise again and be a greater city of New Orleans. I believe the town where I used to come — from Houston, Texas, to enjoy myself, occasionally too much — will be that very same town, that it will be a better place to come to.
