I'm in complete agreement with Mr. Pearson. I do not force my beliefs on others, why should you try to force your beliefs on me? What happened to 'Love thy neighbor?'

If I'm evil or 'possessed by a demon' because I take the time to talk to people and get to know them personally regardless of beliefs, race, sexuality and numerous other factors then yeah I'm evil. You can't judge a book by its cover, but that seems to be what you guys are doing because it says so in the bible.

For example: I've known my closest friend since we were 12, (13 years) and he has recently come out as gay. When he told me NOTHING changed. He is still my closest friend, we still hang out all the time, the only difference is his sexual preference.

If that would have happened to one of you, what would you have done? Would you drop one of your closest friends because of something they could not help?

I don't know if you are saying that Jesus contradicted the rest of the Bible by saying to love our neighbors. Jesus was very clear on who we were to regard as our neighbors.

Also, the Bible is full of instruction that we should rebuke others for sin and educate them in the Good News©. You are saying there is another passage that contradicts this? I think you are just a damned confirmation seeking atheist.

Jesus was a stickler for the Old Testament Law. You are just cherry picking a few verses about how Christians should look out for their neighbors (which Jesus defines as Good Samaritans using the parable of the Good Samaritan). Then you are ignoring a vast swathe of equally important information. It is not a matter of interpretation. The Bible is not that complicated. We are interpreting the whole thing literally. You are ignoring most of it. See what is going on here?

The Bible is replete with demands that believers proselytize. You say we are twisting His Words by forcing religion on other people, but this just reveals your ignorance of the Bible, proving that atheism is the result of ignorance. From cover to cover the Bible demands that non-believers be punished, ostracized, or preached to.

Sadly, you need to compare the two. I don't think it's illegal to worship others, or even to refuse worship. it's not illegal to work on a sabbath, nor speak religious profanities, or even to commit adultery (though that will end in a divorce usually). as for holy word, that has been through several different printings, translations and the like already. It IS illegal to take away a person's privacy though, unless they have done something the public agrees is a threat to society. Here's a big hint, the people on this board are a bigger threat to the mental well being of the world than atheism in general

Wrong again. Laws in the United States are decided by the people for the people. The people are by and large Christian and certainly inspired by Christian morality. The Constitution was written by Christians with a Christian ethic in mind. It's all in your history books.

Again with people not reading. I was clarifying the definition, and I stated I am an atheist, completely. I KNOW your idea of god does not exist because if he did, he would likely back-hand you all for the way you're twisting his words. The reason I do a good thing? because I believe in a better world. The reason I feel safe that others will do the same? because the police will punish them otherwise. We do not need religion to keep ourselves safe, and threat of an imaginary force doing things to you after you're already dead is a poor deterrent to a rapist or a murderer, who may or may not be christian themselves. Please, keep the threats coming, it just proves my point further.
