  • Supreme Court Unanimous Decision: Churches Exempt from Americans with Disabilities Act!

    Great news, friends!

It is well known that God hates cripples, and now the nine Justices of the US Supreme Court have unanimously ruled, without one dissenting opinion, that religious institutions are not bound by employment regulations that govern secular organizations, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. Let us all rejoice and offer our thanks to the LORD for American law being brought one step closer to being in conformity with Biblical Law!

On Jan. 11, the Supreme Court issued a ruling in a significant church employment dispute, giving religious organizations wide latitude in hiring and firing clergy and other employees who perform religious duties. In its unanimous decision, the high court explicitly recognized a legal doctrine known as the “ministerial exception.” Lower courts have used the doctrine to exempt religious organizations from anti-discrimination laws and other statutes that regulate how employers treat their workers, but this is the first time that the Supreme Court has ruled on the constitutionality of the doctrine. The case, Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, involved the dismissal of a teacher at a Lutheran school in Michigan who performed both secular and religious duties. The teacher argued that she had been fired in violation of laws protecting people with disabilities. Specifically, she claimed that the religious school had retaliated against her for asserting her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. But the high court ruled that the ministerial exception trumps anti-discrimination laws.

“The interest of society in the enforcement of employment discrimination statutes is undoubtedly important,” Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. wrote for the court. “But so too is the interest of religious groups in choosing who will preach their beliefs, teach their faith, and carry out their mission.” A September legal analysis by the Pew Forum examined the main arguments in the case.
    II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

There's a clause in the ruling that says the employees have to "perform religious duties" as part of their jobs in order to bypass secular worker protections. I've been wanting us to get rid of that janitor with the gimp walk and perpetually open mouth for years now. Maybe now is the time to invite him in to read some catechism to the kids in my Sunday School class?

I'm glad you provided that link, Brother! That word sounds an awful lot like what Catholic priests make altar boys do.

            Ew.

And there are a couple of points there that our God-mocking visitors could do well to understand:

            Q. 5. How do we know that the Bible is the Word of God?
            A. The Bible evidences itself to be God's Word by the heavenliness of its doctrine, the unity of its parts, its power to convert sinners and to edify saints; but the Spirit of God only, bearing witness by and with the Scriptures in our hearts, is able fully to persuade us that the Bible is the Word of God.

            Q. 7. What do the Scriptures principally teach?
            A. The Scriptures principally teach what man is to believe concerning God and what duty God requires of man.

            Q. 18. What is sin?
            A. Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God.

            Q. 21. Into what estate did the fall bring mankind?
            A. The fall brought mankind into an estate of sin and misery.

            Q. 29. How does Christ execute the office of a priest?
            A. Christ executes the office of a priest, in His once offering up of Himself, a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, and reconcile us to God, and in making continual intercession for us.
Much more, of course! They'd do well to read the whole thing.
            Bible boring? Nonsense!

You can't be a Christian if you don't know God's Word!
