North Carolina Republicans propose official state religion!

This is a bill that is so enlightened and moral it could only be inspired up by Jesus Himself is being proposed in North Carolina. Republican law makers want to make Christianity the official state religion of North Carolina. Though there's a pesky little thing called the constitution in their way. Though the brilliant Republican lawmakers have found a loophole in the constitution. Their argument is that the constitution only applies to the federal government, not state governments. Who knew? I suppose the entire time the constitution and federal laws never really applied to states after all! I'm still waiting for cases regarding abortion and anti-discrimination to be overturned on this basis.

SECTION 1. The North Carolina General Assembly asserts that the Constitution of the United States of America does not prohibit states or their subsidiaries from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.

SECTION 2. The North Carolina General Assembly does not recognize federal court rulings which prohibit and otherwise regulate the State of North Carolina, its public schools, or any political subdivisions of the State from making laws respecting an establishment of religion.

North Carolina's constitution previously prohibited people who didn't believe in God from running for office in that state up until 1961. However, due to a ruling by liberal judges in Torcaso v. Watkins, that ban no longer applies and godless liberals can invade our legal system and shove their godless filth on everyone else. Yet thanks to this bill that ban can be re-instituted! Finally, no more godless liberals creating laws!

I can't wait until North Carolina and Texas use this newly discovered loophole to legalize slavery and make blasphemy a crime.

As always, liberals are up in arms about this bill because they hate Jesus

This is indeed good news - the first step to bring this country back on the right track. The next thing that needs to be done is to pass a law that only Christians can hold public office.

Oh thank God! This means the way has been paved to make sure only moral and upstanding (meaning, True Christian™) people will be allowed to take on positions of any importance, such as police, legislation, education, and the like. It means no longer do decent God-fearing people have to hire whatever Satan-worshiper, cross-dresser he knows to be immoral.

Just heard the good news, though I do not live in God's favourite nation, one day my family will move there, imagine, a place where secular law does not conflict with Lord Almighty's word. If it does happen, then it might spread to the rest of America then the world!

I have a question for Mr Jennings-Bryan which is that once The Ten Commandments + 603 other commandments are established as Law, I understand that non Christians (socialists, Unitarians, cannibals and others of that type) will be permanently unavailable for any sort of office or employment but will there be any Jewish candidates?

Weren't Jews the ones who agreed happily to crucify Jesus Christ? I'll have to do some more research on that.
