    Democrats can be Christians too

I usually vote Republican, but after some of the antics we've seen in recent times I intend to vote Democrat in November.

Democrats can be Christians too, you know. In fact, I'd be willing to hazard a bet that if Jesus was in the USA today, he may well be casting his vote for Barack Obama. Is war really the 'godly' way?

I don't like this tendency to judge the state of someone's soul on the basis of their politics. I would humbly suggest renaming this discussion board 'Godly politics' instead of 'Godly Republican Politics'. There is nothing godly about waging a war where 93,000 CIVILIANS have died all because George and Dick wanted to get their hands on some oil. As someone who voted for Bush, I feel ashamed now to call myself American. Anyone else here feel the same?
In Christ there is no East or West,
    In Him no South or North;
But one great fellowship of love
    Throughout the whole wide earth.
    (W A Dunkerley, 1852-1941)

They may say they are christians! But are they really CHRISTIANS?? I severly doubt it. There morals and guidelines tend to not agree with my strict religious beliefs. And I am not one to just let it go......
Gather around so that I can read to you from my book of TRUTH. Genesis thru Revelations....Pick one!

Luke 12:5- But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Why the hell should I be ashamed to be an American? This wasn't a war about oil, it was about sending Christ haters to a fiery death. Don't you realize that mudslums deny that Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead? What does the Bible say about those who deny Christ?

Exodus 15:3: The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.

And then there are all of the righteous genocides that God commanded, as described in the Old Testament.

Oh, but wait. God changed His mind completely between the Old and New Testaments, so He wants us to ignore two-thirds of His Word.

Really? How do you think George W. Bush got elected, against the "will of the people", TWICE? Diebold? NO! DIVINE INTERVENTION!

God knows all and is all-powerful. If God did not want George W. Bush to be President, he WOULDN'T be President!

Why do you deny the power of the Almighty?

Is war really the 'godly' way?
I wonder what Jesus thinks about that. Let's ask Him, shall we?

          Matthew 10:34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

          Not peace, but a sword.

As the good Pastor Isaac Peters has mentioned, there are numerous God-demanded genocides in the Old Testament*, and of course there's the Book of Revelation, in which we learn how God will turn the Earth into a living Hell of slaughter and torture in the years before Judgment Day.

War sure sounds pretty Godly to me.

13 posts and you're trying to tell the Pastors how to organize their forum?! What presumptuous twaddle will you spew forth next?

There is nothing godly about waging a war where 93,000 CIVILIANS have died all because George and Dick wanted to get their hands on some oil.
          Oh. THAT pretentious twaddle.

No, there is nothing Godly about what you describe, if it were reality. Here in the real world, there is plenty Godly about a war in which 93,000 Jesus-hating, demon-worshipping MUSLIM INFIDELS have been sent to Hell a bit earlier than they had planned!

No. I would re-re-elect Bush if the opportunity were offered; since it's not, I'll be voting for John McCain!

*Numbers 31 is a favorite of many here, because of the leadership and courage displayed by Moses in slaughtering all the Midianite boys of any age -- even newborns! -- and all the women and girls who weren't virgins, then giving the virgin girls to his men to use as they see fit . . . go read it!

Do you believe those 93,000 civilians went to Heaven or Hell after they died?

If you think Heaven, what makes you think that?

If you think Hell, why is it acceptable to burn someone in a Lake of Fire for eternity, but not to shoot them?
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
