Praise Jesus! Our fine officers defended society from another terrorist in the making. This homeless and insane bum was carrying knives. Based on their reaction, the officers must have had no doubt that this man was a terrorist in the making about to unleash another devastating attack. Had the officers failed to act in time, we likely would have seen another mass shooting/stabbing.
What I love is the incredible thoroughness and compassion shown these officers. They spend hours and hours trying to talk him down. News sources claim he "surrendered", but luckily police saw through this ruse and knew that he was actually just pretending to surrender so he could later kill innocent people. No doubt during their several hour interview they used advanced psychological profiling to accurately access that this man was indeed a threat and they acted accordingly.
They first went in with a flash bang grenade. By turning around, this man was clearly showing his defiance of the officers. That's when they went in with a extra compassionate non-lethal bullets. This man then pretended to be mortally injured. A lesser officer would have immediately gone for the arrest, getting stabbed in the process, but these officers didn't fall for that. They immediately struck after he was on the ground by attacking him with a dog (it's okay if the dog gets stabbed). Then just to make sure he didn't have access to his stabbing hand, they shot him in the hand with been bags.
Sending the dog in first was important to judge intent. If he had stabbed the dog the police would have known he was still dangerous, giving them a reason to kill him there potentially saving human lives. If they shot him with the bean bags first however, then he wouldn't have been able to stab the dog, thus making them unable to judge whether or not they scared the terroristic urges out of him yet.
Furthermore, shooting him with bean bags afterwards was an excellent added precaution, just on the off chance he was willingly laying there and taking the dog bite just to sucker the police in. Homeless people can be great actors. They have to pretend to be disabled everyday in order to get their Welfare and food stamps. So it would have been easy for him to do.
They could have just shot him with lethal bullets and killed him right then and there but they didn't! They must have been really caring. He died the next day in the hospital but that isn't the point. While it isn't exactly the same situation, I can't help but feel these wonderful defenders of freedom were inspired by Exodus 21:20-21 which states that you shouldn't directly kill your slaves, but if you beat them, and they happen to die a few days later, that's okay.
So, great news right? Well, as usual the liberal media is ready and waiting to persecute these fine officers. A lawsuit was filed against the Albuquerque police costing our tax payers 6 million dollars! Good grief! This homeless man wouldn't have be able to make that much money in ten life times. Why on Earth would his family get that much?? There is a silver lining in that the cops get to keep their job and they're on the payroll, so Albuquerque is still being defended from terrorists. Though I am deeply concerned about whether or not the police will be able to effectively do their job knowing that liberals are ready and waiting to steal our hard earned tax dollars when they do.

James Boyd, a mentally disturbed man who friends say was attempting to camp out in the foothills above Albuquerque one night in March because city homeless shelters had closed, was holding two small camping knives. Officers negotiated with him for five hours, eventually winning agreement from Boyd to leave the makeshift -- and illegal -- campsite.
Then a police stun grenade went off, Boyd, 38, turned his back and three shots were fired.

Police video shows Boyd on his stomach on the ground, wheezing for breath as officers sic a dog on his legs and fire bean bag rounds at him.
He was already mortally wounded. An autopsy on Boyd found he was shot in the back. The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide.
