Go take a look at the Talmud. We study it, and try and find the meaning. The Talmud is a Torah with biblical rabbis commentary, and arguement around the Torah text. The study of Torah is a deep rooted factory in the Jewish faith

You can use the Torah to argue anything to be honest. That first passage says to kill non belivers who are prostilatizing, not just non belivers. Read it a little more carfully "entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods" It explicitly states to kill people who are trying to convert you.

Their claim to civil rights -- apparently, they think they have the right to trespass on private property -- doesn't make right their civil wrongs.

It is more of a sign to the wearer, like a reminder. They don't have any special symbols on them. They are just pure white. White is the color of purity. So as long as the wearer is sinless, they can wear them. If they have committed a sin, they are not allowed to wear them. They have no special powers but serve as a reminder for the wearer. They feel different so they are constantly reminding the wearer of the things they should be doing.
