  • First Requirement: You Have to KNOW You are a Sinner

    Every once in a while, I come across a piece of writing that is almost as good as a Pastor Zeke sermon. This one points out you cannot be helped by Jesus unless you know, and admit to yourself, you are a sinner. Jesus knows you are a sinner. But He waits for you to discover it for yourself.

    We who are members of Landover Baptist worked hard to stop sinning. Once we were finally on top of our game we started helping others. Today we are here to help sinners discover their sins. Sinners out there, stop it. Tell us here at Landover Baptist about your sins. Don't expect Jesus to just overlook them.

    Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

    Amen, it is so inspiring to hear the testimony of truly evil sinners who accepted Christ and were Saved, like Jeffrey Dahmer. During my own scandalous days before I returned to the fold I was allegedly involved in all kinds of sordid affairs - money laundering, illegal gambling, aiding and abetting fugitives, gun running, pimping, murder for hire, exotic animal smuggling, grave robbing, conspiracy to commit acts of terror, and so on - none of it proved (the Blood of Christ Motel was once called the Devil May Care Motel). My own sins are between me and my Savior... and He has washed me clean of them with His blood. If I hadn't admitted whatever it was that I did (and I'm not confessing to anything that could be admissible as evidence), it would be the same as if I was still committing all of those sins.

    Which I'm not, of course. I swear on the Bible.
    I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
    Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
    But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
    From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

      I am pretty sure Jesus does not mind those things.

      Jeremiah 6:21 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

      Best wishes for the people in Ukraine.

        Mr. Mayor, I will confess my sin. My sin if you want to call it that is loving Jesus too much. But if loving Jesus too much is a sin, then... then... contradictions ahead! So it must be true. Put it this way, if His representatives on Earth were to tell me to break secular laws in support of a President then I would have a hard time disobeying His orders. Which is contrary to His wishes (Romans 13). So I would act on gut instinct first - and let my gut sort it out later (Bush 43), if needed, which it probably wouldn't be. That's the problem with secular law, it creates all these murderous problems.
        If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

          Yes, Dr. Toole, secular law causes problems. We know the Law of God is correct and there is no need to question it. Where secular law comes in is open to question.

          One reads often a "Man kills wife. He says God told him to do it." If the man is a True Christian™ the courts have no business doubting him. The other law, secular, really confuses things.
