Also, "punishing" a woman (as you try to put it) is illegal in the USA.

That's utter nonsense, and you know it! My husband often punishes me when I've done something to deserve it. Sometimes I even ask him to punish me, when I've done something I know I shouldn't have. Earlier today I posted something inappropriate to this forum, and I know that when he gets in from work he's going to punish me for that too. Nothing too bad, just a few good bruises to remind myself what I did wrong. Scars heal over time, but we wear them from to remind ourselves how to be better Christians.

Maybe I haven't had his dinner ready on time, and I deserve to be kicked in the face real hard, so that next time I don't mess up in the kitchen. Because we know a black eye, or a few broken ribs, or swolen face, is better than a one way ticket to Hellfire and eternal suffering. I don't mean anything too bad, like getting your legs and arms smashed by a hammer (though I DID deserve that at the time), but a good hard beating by your husband is essential to keep us on the true path to Jesus. Think about it.

Eternity in Hell - Vs - a good beating every now and then?

It's an easly choice to make.
