Accepting Jesus is the definition of a True Christian.

And if you believe Jesus will save everyone, why does he tell the woman to sin no more?

Sinning is bad? Does it need to be any more complicated?

I was not arguing for the logic of the statement, as I was just stating what the Bible was saying in its most literal way.
Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Really? The Greek word is menō.

        to remain, abide or dwell
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

That is one definition of the word, yes. There is more than one though, and the context shows it this says nothing about waiting:

to bear patiently : tolerate; to endure without yielding : withstand; to wait for : await… See the full definition

1 : to wait for : await 2 a : to endure without yielding : withstand b : to bear patiently : tolerate 3 : to accept without objection intransitive verb 1 : to remain stable or fixed in a state 2 : to continue in a place : sojourn

The Greek word used here is menō, and means in reference to state or condition: to remain as one, not to become another or different.

Here is a list of how other Bibles have translated this word, none of them agree with your interpretation: http://bible.cc/1_john/3-6.htm

then by your own message, how can you extrapolate any more?

The Bible tells us Christians do not have sin.
I know. I was just having a probe into defining a Christian. Either way, just debating how you take a single word opens up a lot of different meanings. For example, the way I could have taken it could mean anyone waiting for Jesus would be counted, while some of the other interpretations vary to include people in a connection with Jesus, or people who put their faith in him.

That's not interpretation, that's reading what is written down. It is not my problem that the language of the Bible is too advanced to you. It doesn't say anything about waiting for Jesus' return, for one thing.

How come? I took a perfectly correct usage of the word. That said, I know from the Greek that my interpretation was dubious at best. I was just trying to make a minor point that people can read the same thing with different outcomes.

You reached no such point. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).

Just because one does not explicitly state that they have made a point does not mean it was not there.

Scripture is not open to private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20) Just read the words, no more, no less - OR ELSE!

Revelation 22: 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

What I write is not part of scripture, as you have just shown, using scripture. therefore, my literacy is not under the same restraints.

You are adding meanings that are not there. You are NOT allowed to interpret the Bible, you are allowed the read it at its most basic, literal meaning possible. Otherwise, you are evil (or just plain illiterate).

How is the meaning not there? I read the scripture using a perfectly sound use of the language. I know the context of the whole bible would suggest other meanings, I did not actually misuse a single word that the particular verse.

Where does it talk about Jesus returning, for one thing?

And your meaning is based solely on the fact that the ENGLISH word has different connotations. Egad, the British really don't teach their children anything these days, do they?

Now Jack, you cannot make it up as you go along. Only God can. We (that even includes you) must follow His words exactly as written. If he wanted the meaning to be different, He would of had the Bible written differently.
There is no interpretation, suggestion, hidden meaning or double entendre in the Bible. Just God being the straight shooter He is.
