I think it's high time we stand up to the hegemony of the Electrical Industry and stand in union against sexist and homophobic terms used to describe electrical outlets and devices. For example,

This is your standard electrical outlet and plug. Harmless, right? WRONG! The plug is referred to as "male" and the outlet is referred to as "female", to use the electrical jargon. There are a variety of other types of Male and Female plugs/outlets as well.
What is so sexist and homophobic you may ask? Because for these machines and devices to properly work, you MUST JOIN THE MALE TO THE FEMALE. Two female (or two male) devices hooked together won't get a machine running. This is the electrical industry's hidden way of saying that homosexuality is therefore "broken" and the only way you can get something to work is to engage in heterosexuality.
It is also sexist because it assumes all female outlets need a male plug. This is not so. I am a proud lesbian feminist and I do not need a male member inside of me to "turn me on". I do not need a male to "make me work".
Some may laugh at this and say I am making a mountain out of a molehill, but we must never forget that language controls thoughts, and whether consciously or unconsciously, the Electrical Industry is standing in the way of Feminist and Gay/Lesbian Rights. I would propose some more gender-neutral language for these devices...instead of Male/Female how about External and Internal? I would also like to see some engineering overhauls to make it so that two female plugs can connect to each other and have the machine work just as good as any heterosexual bond.
Stand up today against the SEXIST and HOMOPHOBIC Electrical Industry! Fight the Power!

Not that I am judging you, of course you have everything right to judge them if you want, but judging is wrong (according to Jesus, not me, I don't judge). And well, God bless!
