    Gravity: Truth or Fiction?

    So I was thinking.

Does gravity REALLY hold us to the earth? Or is it the force of God? (Shall I say the Force of God?!). And when the Rapture comes, God will release the Force that binds us to this earth and then we will fly up to meet Him?
Or maybe what binds us to the earth is sin? And the weight of our sin keeps us connected to the ground?

    So much to think about.
I hardly think the theory of gravitation completely explains why we dont fall off the earth.

I bet there is a conspiracy among the scientific community to keep data and observations about other types of gravitational theory under wraps. We all know how science has lauded evilution. I wonder how many Godly theories they have kept under wraps all these years?

    The truth is out there.
And you can find it here *points to Bible*

I was just wondering if any of you fine people had contemplated this or maybe could direct me to the finer points of why we dont fall off the earth? Or what keeps us to the earth until the Rapture comes?

    Well.
If I were to hold an apple or something denser and heavier.... above one of your heads and release it, leading it in a colission course with your brain, I can claim it is the work of god smighting you with an apple or heavier object... and I am not to be blamed.

Read this it may help, I know many people on this forum do not think highly of women and their intellectual abilites, but try to read it.

    An even simplier explanation.
Q Why don't we feel that the earth is moving? Why don't we fall off?
    -- Prathamesh Save, Borivli
We do not feel that the earth is moving because we go along the surface of the earth as it moves. It is the gravitational force of the earth that holds everything down. You must have heard of Newton's law of Gravitation. The strength of the gravitational force exerted by one body over the other body, depends on their mass and the distance between the two objects. Objects with greater mass have a greater power of attraction. The earth, with its enormous mass, attracts all objects on it with quite some force. There is no question therefore of our falling off.

CaveManJoe, I'm talking about the Theory of Universal Gravitation. Not the Law of Gravity.
I thought talking about Einstein's General Theory of Relativity would not be worth hashing out in a forum.
But I'm sure you know the difference. Right? Right.

And I wasnt questioning that an apple falls from a tree, I was asking why it falls from the tree (difference between a law and a theory, y'know? But Im sure you knew that too). And usually you "spiritual" types are good at making up shiat like that. Something like how the apple is tired of hugging the tree, it wants to hug the ground instead. Is that what fatty mcfatpants Buddha teaches?

General gravity does apply firstly to why we do not fly off the face of earth. Read the links. Theory of General Gravitation is about the relationship of large celestial bodies and their attration.
Objects being drawn to objects with much greater masses and densities.

          Re: Gravity: Truth or Fiction?

I seem to remember reading something about this.

Einstein said, "God does not play dice" with physics. By this he meant that otherwise capricious natural forces are under God's complete control; they are not like dice, which can come up snake-eyes one time and boxcars the next.

God is calling every roll. For instance, I think it's quite likely that God increased the force of gravity in order to smite Eli dead:

And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years. 1 Samuel 4:18

          Praise the Lord!

Something certainly holds us to the ground. It may be the force of a God, simply called gravity.

AMEN sister. Sin does not hold us down to Earth either. Otherwise Christ would have rocketed up past heaven and into space in an instant. Also, (some) rocks are free of sin, and are also held down to Earth. Clearly it is God's will that secures us to the Earth. And "gravity" is just some nonsense constructed by Isaac Newton in a pathetic attempt to gain fame and fortune.

Don't try to wrack your brains understanding this one. There is no scientific way to measure gravity, just the effects from the interaction between two objects. You can't see or touch the attraction between the objects, yet they are attracted to each other. This is just another one of God's miracles that 'scientists' haven't been able to figure out yet. I wonder why. How can you measure the force of God?
                  Ack!

There is also no way for man, of which whom does not understand truth and morality to understand science. It is not possible for man to, in any respect, know the force of spirituality if one does not understand, with an open, un-biased mindset, the truth and wisdom of science.

The problem, sister, is that Gravity is mis-understood, like so much else. When viewed through the eyes of the world, it would appear that inanimate objects "suck" things towards them, hence Newton/Jewton's "Theory of Gravity". I'm serious -- this isn't even a joke! It's a completely bizarre theory when you leave God out of it. And yet people pay $45,000/year to listen to this "theory" at Harvard.

When you add God to the picture, it makes so much more sense! God put is here and imbued us with His Spirit. He placed the planets and stars in their orbits around Earth. "Gravity" doesn't hold them there -- they were put there by God Himself! They can't just get up one day and "decide" to disobey God!

This is a very clear example of how removing God from science results in some extremely awkward and bizarre "science"! I am glad you asked, however, because I spent a great deal of time in graduate school researching this very thing!
