    15th and Final Launch

I have joined this forum as part of a project I am undertaking. I have searched the Internet intensively and selected 15 Christian Religion forums to join, so that I can request an influx of information.

Consider me a child who knows nothing about Christianity, but is able to question that which is not initially understood. I wish to determine, by processing as much information as possible through my specialized techniques, whether Religion is a viable aspect of Life.

Educate me as if I were a new member of your congregation.

If this is not permitted on the forum, inform me and I will leave.

    Thanks.

    Dear Friend,

    1. Get a copy of the King James Version 1611 Bible.

    2. Read it cover to cover.

    3. When you're done, if you have any questions, let us know.

    Yours in Him,
    bab

Also, you will have to tell us which institution you are with. Whose auspices is this reasearch being done under? Are you a college student? What university? Professor's name and phone number? Etc. We need more details, because we've been burned before.

        Re: 15th and Final Launch

Born Again Bob, I have read the Bible--many times--but each time I end up with thousands of questions, and it is too difficult to decide which are more important to put forth. It would probably be impractical to post them all here. So I thought it would be more efficient to listen to what a believer has to say on his or her position--anything that is particularly important to that person could be discussed. If you were especially concerned about abortion, for example, we could discuss that.

Pastor Ezekiel, I am not affiliated with any kind of institution, university, college, or government. This is an independent project, intended solely for my personal benefit. I can give you the website of my high school, however, via personal message.

I believe on other forums it is against the rules to post more than once in a row, but I could not find the Edit feature on my previous post. If anybody could point that out, it would be appreciated.

One thing that has me concerned is that I might have mistaken this for a Christian site. There's a strangely large amount of unchecked racism and homophobia, much of which comes from Moderators. Is this a Christian denomination site or is it parody or is it something else under the guise of a Christian community?

            Dear Friend,

Everything we say has as its basis a correct understanding of the inerrant Holy Scripture. If that isn't Christian, I don't know what is.

So could you be considered "purist" Christians?

Understandable, and I will use that term when speaking here, but I would have to use "purist" when talking to others about this. After all, it's only fair to other Christian denominations.

                    Dear Friend,

Truth is always fair. The truth is that other Christian denominations have turned their backs on the parts of the Bible with which they are uncomfortable. That makes them false christians, and God will spit them out on the Last Day.

"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." Rev. 22:19.

You stated what you clearly believe to be fact. But you need to prove your fact--provide absolute evidence and put forth a logical argument. That's the point of my project, to analyze the arguments of believers.

                        Dear Friend,

If we had evidence and a priori proof, of what value would faith be?

In any event, God will not be made subject to human scrutiny. Remember how He answered Job. If you're looking to build a tower of Babel, its foundation will not be Landover Baptist. We don't expect to put God under a microscope like a bug here.

                          Re: 15th and Final Launch

None. If we had absolute evidence of God's existence, then we could revel in that knowledge and with certainty await his plan's fruition. Faith would be entirely unnecessary. We would already know. Is that not logical?

And if God will not be made subject to human scrutiny, then why am I able to scrutinize him right now by studying the Bible--supposedly his own words planted into the minds of the writers--and debate with you? Right now I am studying the possibility of God's existence. Would God allow that?

                            Dear Friend,

No. You cannot debate the existence of God with me. We have no common ground.

You say logic and experience control. On those terms, God cannot be shown to exist. As hellbound Scot David Hume noted, even if God parted the Red Sea just for you, on request, as a true empiricist you still wouldn't become a believer. The simpler and more probable hypothesis is not that God exists, but that you'd gone mad.

I say the Bible controls. On those terms, God's existence is proven by simply reading the Book.

Once we select our respective authorities, the debate is over before it has begun. And we cannot debate the choice of authority. You cannot convince me to toss aside the faith of my fathers for pretty syllogisms. And I cannot convince you to abandon reason in favor of what seems to you a purely personal faith.

We're not here to debate. We're here to tell it as it is. And then it's up to you to pray or get off the pot.

                            Yours in Him,

It appears this may not be the most suitable place to gather information. I might not even need 15 separate channels of information--14 should do just fine, judging from the results I'm getting from those.

I'll observe for a few more days. If it's not helpful, I'll leave. Thank you.
