  • I have a ligitimate question about Christianity

I know that Christians believe that God is the only God. What about Satan? Is he considered a God? If not then why doesn't he die?

I am really trying to be a good Christian and being a good Christian requires me to know these things. Answering my questions would really help me to understand Christianity and bring me to heaven.

    Thank you in advance.

    God bless you all.

Re: I have a ligitimate question about Christianity

I have moved your thread to the appropriate place.

Since you have asked God to Bless us (thank you for that!), can I assume that you are a Christian? Please share something about yourself in the "introductions" thread.

If you are familiar with the Holy Bible, you would know that satan is not "a god" of any kind. The word 'satan' is the Hebrew transliteration of the word 'adversary.' Therefore, satan is the one who opposes God. Satan is the most powerful of the fallen angels. Satan, also known as Lucifer and the Devil, is the one who entered the Garden of Eden and convinced Eve to disobey God.

There is debate among True Christian™ scholars regarding the time of the fall of satan. Some say that he fell when he moved Eve to disobey God. Others state that satan fell sometime before that and merely manifested his adversarial nature in the Garden. Still others say that there was a great battle in heaven long before the Garden of Eden and that satan took one third of the angels with him.

"And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."
      (Rev. 12:3-4)

Of course, the first mention of the devil is found in the Garden of Eden, but it isn't until the post-exilic period (538 B.C.) that the figure of satan is more prominently displayed: Job 1-2 Zech. 3:1-2; and 1 Chron. 21:1.1

Satan is mentioned in the Gospels many times:

Matt. 4:1, "Then Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil."

Mark 3:23, "And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 3:24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand."

John 13:2, "And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;"

The motive for Satan's rebellion may very well be found in the following verses.

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High"
      (Isaiah 14:12-14)

In the future, there will be a judgment where the devil will be cast out :

"And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Rev. 12:9)

      I hope this helps.

Jesus is God and the only way. Satan was Lucifer in heaven with his other 1/3 friends of how many angels - we don't know for sure and God kicked them out of heaven for pride. His named was changed to Satan. Lucifer was one of the high arc and I heard he could jam some good toons before God got jealous. That is why rock and roll is satan's tool. He is the one gifted behind the music.

God keeps Satan around to torment us because it is part of his plan. After the 7 years of tribulation and 2000 year rain of Jesus on earth, God is gonna take some small little angel on the lower chain and cast him and the anti christ in the lake of fire forever and ever. Hope you are not there to greet them.

        Verses, look it up.

If the Lord leads you to it, he will get you through it.

I am humbled by your wisdom, Pastor Ezekiel. You are indeed well-versed in the Verse of God's Word.

God's great and loving Plan for Man shows forth its holiness in His dealings with Satan.
