    You are not a Christian.

I doubt that. But if you did, then you decided which parts to take literally and which to take metaphorically. You already stated in another thread that Hell does not exist.

God is nothing more than a puppet to you who only "says" the things you want to hear.

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
    Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Asking a Christian to prove God exists is like asking him to prove his phone rings because yours doesn't. Make that call yourself! Dial 0800-get-on-your-knees-and-pray.

My being a Christian is a matter of what is in my heart, not a matter of your opinion.

      I doubt that.
I read the Bible in Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic and in many English translations, including the KJV, in seminary. I have also read the scriptures of many other faiths, though, admittedly, mostly not in the original languages.

But if you did, then you decided which parts to take literally and which to take metaphorically. You already stated in another thread that Hell does not exist.
I take the entire Bible metaphorically, because it was written by men for their own times and I need to apply it to my own behavior in our times. While there is no doubt much true history in the Bible, without external evidence to confirm it, I can accept the Bible stories at best provisionally. I do believe in God, but that is not just because God is discussed in the Bible. I believe that Jesus existed and was a great, though flawed, moral teacher. I do not know whether there is an afterlife--I certainly have no evidence to believe there is one--but, if there is, the notion of Hell is simply not consistent with the existence of a loving God.

God is nothing more than a puppet to you who only "says" the things you want to hear.
The Bible has many inconsistencies, so it is not possible to read it as the literal truth if you are reading it honestly. Consider:

I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 1 Kings 3:12 (God speaking to Solomon)

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. Matthew 12:42 (Jesus discussing himself)

So, who was wiser, Solomon or Jesus?
...as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14 (emphasis mine)

I find it interesting that you start out saying it's just my opinion and then you spend the rest of your post criticizing core tenets of Christianity.

And by the way, "your heart" is not a factual reference. It's an emotional way of saying "opinion". I don't argue with you based on opinion, but based on the Bible and YOUR own words.

It must be difficult for you to be in agreement with atheists more often than with Christians of basically any denomination...

Effectively, you've composed your own Bible where you choose which parts to take literally (e.g. 1 John) and which to take metaphorically (everything else).

When we point out Scripture that conflicts with everything you say, you simply dismiss it. So basically, you're stuck in a self-validating loop where you only accept "evidence" that supports what you want to believe in and you dismiss anything -- including the Bible -- when it conflicts with your opinion.

Do you realize that this is EXACTLY what an atheist would say? They ask for external evidence all the time. But again, you make yourself the arbiter of what is valid in the Bible. Not surprisingly, when put through such a filter, it "confirms" what you already thought.

You are the type of person who looks through a red piece of glass and then tries to argue that the world is indeed red.

Again, exactly something an atheist could say. Jesus was not flawed in any way.

This is mentioned explicitly numerous times throughout the Bible.

You are again basing the conclusion on your own assumption. You read 1 verse out of context in the whole Bible and you use that to dismiss 99.9% of the Bible. Can't you find any other chapter in the Bible to support your claim?

Which Bible? There are easily over a dozen popular ones in the American language alone.

This is a question that you are asking as a Christian? I'm not interested in "conflicts" that arise when you read the Bible metaphorically.

In all honesty, it seems you have a lot more in common with atheists and agnostics than with Christians. And with "Christians", I mean Christians of practically any denominations. You are openly skeptical about the Bible, you say there is no Hell, you say you don't even know if there is a Heaven and dismiss Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

You are one confused atheist, my friend.

@FLAGELATEorMASTRBATE It is Satan who is trying to seduce you. Would you not rather go to Heaven instead? #Psalm 9:17
