  • Pray for Governor Sanford

Before I ask for your prayers for Governor Sanford, I wanted to share Brother Bathfire's most eloquent dissertation regarding multiple wives.

Originally posted by Ezekiel Bathfire View Post

The essence here is that you should be in a position to support the wife and maintain a regular “lying with” her.

If you are having difficulty housing them, you have too many.

Offspring of second (and subsequent) wives is also dealt with:

De:21:15: If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
De:21:16: Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
De:21:17: But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

Some say that a man should be able to express his authority over any number of wives and I agree, but this may be a counsel of perfection. Women, amongst themselves, tend to be rebellious, lack self-discipline, moral resolve, direction, etc and fall into “cattiness”. To continue the feline theme, you will have heard of the saying, “When the cat’s away, the mice will play.”

And so, one word of advice, as women are unruly creatures much given to falling out amongst themselves, I thus advise that you always have an even number of wives. The logic behind this is that if there is a 50/50 split amongst them, (over, for example, which pie will be baked that morning) you always have the casting vote. Look on it as a management technique.
Please pray for Governor Sanford. It's obvious to me that he is trying to behave in a Godly manner is his gallant effort to woo a second wife. The problem of course, is secular law in the USA does not permit the possession of more than one wife. The good Governor in his effort to please God by having a second wife is conflicted with his desire to honor God by obeying secular law.

Governor Sanford is simply trying to please God. There is no doubt he will be persecuted and possibly prosecuted for this. Please pray for him!

My prayers are certainly with the Honorable Mr. Sanford. My prayers are also with my fellow Carolinians to the south, who have been a bastion for True Christianity in our fine nation since 1860.

    God Bless

I will indeed be praying for our Governor in this turbulent time of trouble. I've met the man. He's a fine gentleman. He has a lovely wife and four fine sons. I pray for his marriage and I pray for our state.
        Have a Blessed day, T-Bone

Indeed our family is praying for Governor Sanford. We are Praying for him to be a stronger man. A recent article (my husband permitted me to read) in the Post and Courier tells that he begged his wife permission to continue his affair. What Kind of man begs his wife for anything? Pray that the Governor will get some gumption and take his wife into his hand! Mrs. Sanford, Bitterness is unbecoming for a woman of God!

          Ephesians 5:22:
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
          Nahum 1:2
God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

His wife must have been a lezbean to drive him into the arms of another woman. I blame his wife.
