I'm no so sure Africa is the better place for practice oral. Sorry, but whit all those native tongues you have got in Africa I think I would go dissy and scream - I need normal english and american oral practice for help me do it better I think.

Got my result today.
In the all exam I failed.



I supose I know this anyway, cos the reading was hard hard hard, and the listening CD was imposible, and I've always been owful in the listening.

I think my writing part was OK, and one of my teachers was listening to my oral from outside and he sayed me it sounded fantastic, really really good.

But wasn't enough - so maybe next year.
And hopingly the rest will be as fantastic as the oral I did this year.

Never lose hope, no?

I'm sure you've thought of this already, but to perform really stunning oral you need to go at it from both sides. Put yourself in his position, try to grasp the hole process.

Also, if you have a willing female friend, you can try some cunning linguist games - you pretend to be a cleaning maid and your friend can be an rich older woman and you work though different scenarios together. I can provide scripts - its something I have thought about a lot - maybe Julio could video it and make cameo at the end.

OK, I also did rest of the exam too.
I think it was go OK. More or less. Perhap.

LISTENING- so so, was so so so so hard, and I'm no very good in the listening any way. I think I fail that bit - was all silly littles bits of convesration and they expect that you hear and listen all the estupids tiny details and choice the right asnwer!!? I'm think this are very unfair for people like me.

READING - was OK, texts and questions and choicing right answers - plus it were MUCH easier than the KJV1611 - even if the exam were spelled all wrong. I think I got pass in this bit. Was a boy next me trying to see my answers of text, kept harassing me to show him what I had. I think this is the first time I have had textual harassment.

WRITING: owfull, owfull, owfull!
2 tasks to do.

1-write e-mail to a friend to invite to dinner, in 35 words or less! How is possible this!!? Only 35 words! Are they crazy!? 200 minimo!

Task 2 - Write a story beginning whit 'And I opened the whardrobe to see what clothes to put on...'
....and we were supose to write in only 100 words!!! Is impossible - how can write that in less than 500!!!? ( I was still wrting when they taked exam off me... I had 6 pages and still was no dressed in the estory..)


So anyway, I'm no sure I haeve pass this exam. I need 70% and will find the mark end of june.

I think overall the oral was what I did best.

We weill see.

I found some scripture about this. So I maybe will have my reward for my hard effort in this. ()

I'm sure there are some movies out there that can help. WHen i used to steal computers, well, you'd be amazed at the training videos i found on them. I saw lots of women, just like you(!), engaged in practicing oral. I can EASILY imagine you succeeding!

If only I would had knew that last week.

Maybe next time you can show me some, cos I'm sure I didn't passed this.

Maria, I am sure your orals will go down fine. I know it appears to be a lot to swallow, but if you take your time and do not try to gulp the entire thing at once you will find it is easy. After the first few, it will become second nature to you. Just remember to nod.

Well my teacher in the academia is a American. But he's no a very estrict teacher - no whit me anyway.

In fact I would say he's normaly a little soft in general. And that's no so good. Is always better if your teacher is hard I think. He do the job better if he's hard so the harder the better I say.

An American that can't make it all that hard, you say. Hmm. Quite puzzling......unless he is walking a "little light in his loafers", as it were.

Should worse come to worse and he fails you in that part of the exams, I would suggest you seek a firmer tutor.

As lick luck would have it, I will be attending a conference of the American Bar Association in Barcelona in the near future. Perhaps we could link up, as it were, at that time and I guarantee you will tutored on oral to a point that will stun those testing you.

Well, I'm glad you're through with that englishman and his demanding oral requirements.

You are rightfully exhausted from the pace of the exams, and that is to be expected.

Just be grateful the oral part wasn't administered by an American. Yanks like us routinely make it much harder than any brit.
