Forgive my ignorance, but isn't Detroit a city just north of Canada? I find it hard to keep track of these things sometimes.
Last time I checked Detroit was in Michigan. Which if I remember correctly is in the United States, which is SOUTH of Canada. (Excuse my ignorance if I'm wrong)

Maybe we should just cut that section off and concede it to the Canadians. They might be able to clean it up for us.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Thank you for posting those links, Brother Nobar.

I've always been fascinated by decaying ruins . . . Macchu Picchu, the Valley of the Kings, the temples at Luxor, Mesa Verde, Britney Spears, and now Detroit!

What does this have to do with urban decay or unemployment in Detroit? Rather than worrying about geography, shouldn't we, as Christians, be asking what we can do for the people of Detroit and other communities that are suffering?

Deuteronomy 15:11: For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
...as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14 (emphasis mine)

It's worse than you think, my ignorant and innocent chinky ching chong friend. Since the poster you're replying to is a self-professed Satanist, we can safely assume that he's also a registered Democrat, in which case he wouldn't just be making a mistake, he would be deliberately spreading lies and untruths in order to create confusion.

Yes, in our land. No-one cares about foreigners to the north of Canada, so geography is very relevant.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I don't know SKG, do you live in Detriot? Maybe you could help them?

Or maybe you want to divert Landover's tithing allotment to that Godforsaken hellhole?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

I was conceived in New York (at least, that's what I was told), but reside now in the San Francisco Bay Area. It's a nice place, Nobar, you ought to visit someday. I've never been to Detroit.

I'd guess that Landover's tithes are already dedicated to uses that don't have much to do with alleviating poverty, but, if your church wants to help Detroiters monetarily, that would be a wonderful thing. There are lots of things you can do to help that don't require a lot of money, too. Prayers, petitions to government, visiting Congresspersons and Senators, making social-action oriented phone calls, holding candle-light vigils, and hundreds more. For example, maybe you could link up with a sister church in the black Baptist community in Detroit for some consciousness raising and mutual prayer.

On second thought, you True Christians might be a little bit more than the Detroiters could take. Maybe you should stick with the candlelight vigils.

Believe it or not, Mr Stockingmad, a few of us are familiar with your town. If one can call it a town, overrun by slanteye chink students, political activists, homers and the homeless. It might surprise you to know that my own mother was living there, before she was Saved® right here on Landover Baptist from a false-christian church just like yours.

That was before I took her into my nice home in the big city across the Bay. After all, family will be family. Yessiree bob, Mr Stalingrad, Jesus certainly has been good to us. Has He been as good to you?
Read your Bible, boys and girls. Jesus likes educated people. That's my take on it.

The news from Detroit get worse every day:

                      TEXT MESSAGE SCANDAL

                      Kilpatrick, Beatty faces felony charges

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and former chief of staff Christine Beatty were charged today with multiple counts of perjury, obstruction of justice, misconduct in office and conspiracy because of their conduct in last year’s police whistle-blower trial, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced.

Council committee wants to know who hired mayor's lawyers

A Detroit City Council committee today demanded answers from Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on who has hired two new attorneys to assist him in the text message scandal.

City destroyed documents, judge told in contempt hearing

UPDATED AT 11 A.M.: A prosecutor told a judge this morning that the City of Detroit has destroyed documents sought in a criminal probe of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff.
                      Mayoral drama distracts Detroit

Kilpatrick's troubles, publicly played out for months, are embarrassing distraction for city

Charlie LeDuff / The Detroit News

DETROIT -- There is a saying in the city that goes something like this: Detroit politics is always a floor show with never a cover charge.
Now, Kym Worthy, the Wayne County prosecutor, raises the curtain on the second act of what has become Detroit's penny opera. She is expected to announce this morning if she will charge Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick with perjury, conduct unbecoming a public official or any other crime in connection with his now-infamous text message turmoil.
Whatever Worthy decides, the announcement cannot come soon enough for many business leaders, residents and city employees who say that the industry of the city has ground to a halt while the distracted mayor spends his days tap-dancing through a minefield of his own making.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.
