  • I covet your prayers of thanksgiving for my daughter

Dear True Christian™ brothers and your silent, submissive womenfolk:

My daughter's beau has proposed to her. Shout glory!

For those of you who haven't met him, he is from one of the county's finest True Christian™ families (diamond-pavé-level tithers). He is a very polite, soft-spoken young man, although he looks a bit younger than his real age. My daughter says that he is always the perfect gentleman around her and indeed doesn't mind going with her when she goes antiquing or shoe-shopping.

I know what some of the hellbound trash are thinking, but I have every confidence that they will be chaste until marriage. Whenever we chaperoned their courtship, I noticed that he never displayed the sort of revolting physical behavior that I have to witness among the unsaved when we go to the mall. In fact, he always seemed to pay more attention to me than to her, which I took to be his acknowledgment of my God-given role as head of the family. He does seem to want to be my friend and even gives me suggestions for which tie to go with which shirt.

As you can imagine, my wife and I are beside ourselves with joy. Invitations to the betrothal ceremony should go into the mail this week.

P.S. I can hardly wait to have more grandchildren.

      GLORY!! Brother.

They will be in my Prayers.
Praise the Lord that you have such Christian minded young people in your household.
May they Bless you with 10 or 12 new Grandchildren.
It must be quite delightful for you to have a young man around the house, especially one with such color co-ordination and dress sense.
Is he good at Interior design too?

Thank you for your kind wishes. Now that you mentioned it, he has kindly offered to help out with my son's home renovation by doing the interior design and overseeing the construction workers. Is the Lord in the process of blessing me with a tight-knit family, or what?

Indeed, all these little Warriors for Christ will be precious presents to Pastor Peters.

Congrats Pastor, he sounds like a nice addition to your family, and I'm sure he'll fit right in! PRAISE!

                  I wasn't expecting an invite.

                  Why am I not surprised?

Is the Lord in the process of blessing me with a tight-knit family, or what?

Or at least a tight "son-in-law."

I thought TC's didn't exchange Christmas presents since the tradition is derived from Pagan Yule celebrations.

Sing Praise, Pastor Peters! Your new son-in-law-to-be sounds like a most upstanding young man, in the True Christian (tm) sense of the word. Your daughter is a lovely young lady, and your family will be so enriched by this glorious union. (I must say that even though a woman's long hair is her crowning glory, your daughter's new stylish shorter hairstyle becomes her immensely. I'm sure your future son-in-law agrees! Has she begun wearing a bit of makeup yet to enhance her natural good looks, or is she saving that for her husband's eyes only?)

And has she done her bridal gift registries yet? Mr. Thyme and I shall be delighted to give this sweet young couple some beautiful things to help start their married life in a genteel, proper True Christian(tm) manner.

                    A SPIRITUAL WARFARE PRAYER:

After this and your later post, Dances without Jesus, I think I see what you're getting at.

You're assuming that because this young man exhibits traits that you see as typical for a specific group -- fashion sense, an interest in interior design, taking pleasure in the company of American men -- that he must be a member of that group.

You speak of diversity frequently, yet you apply stereotypes and jump to conclusions about this fine True Christian(tm) man, and announce your bigotry for all to see. For SHAME!

REALLY! Knows your hatred and bigotry no bounds?

I see absolutely NO reason to believe that this fine young man is European! He simply has a broad range of interests!

Praise the Lord! My congratulations to you and your family. There is nothing more beautiful than the finding of that one special person to love for eternity and being joined with them through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My best wishes to them to have a wholesome and lengthy marriage, filled with joy.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord...not a pitch perfect, melodic, musically correct noise...just joyful.

Thank you for your kind wishes, Sister. My daughter has never particularly enjoyed makeup, but then, I'm sure that she is seeking to adorn herself with good works (1 Tim. 2:10).

But I do have a favor to ask of our True Christian™ sisters. Her mother and I have noticed that she's developing just a bit of a weight problem, so perhaps one of you ladies would be so kind as to share some dieting tips with her? Thanks so much.

It's finally going to happen. In just two short months, my little Nevrita will become Mrs. Richard Johnson. We're just beside ourselves with joy, although it's rather hectic planning everything.

It already feels as though Richard is part of our family. He and my son have become fast friends; Isaac Jr. says that he greatly enjoys having Richard around.
