Re: Overwatch: Overdue For A Ban!
This is something that I pointed out on another thread. According to the Bible, the ONLY way in which every human being is equal is that we all are in need of salvation. And yes, according to the Bible, Jesus died for all of us.
But what does that actually mean? According to the Declaration of Independence, all men are created equal. Does that mean that every human on the planet can vote in a U.S. election?
You know that they can't, because certain practical realities have to be addressed. Things like being a citizen, being of legal age, and being able to prove identity.
Similarly, while everyone is in need of salvation, it helps to accept the gift of said salvation. Part and parcel of that gift means obeying Jesus. You don't obey; you don't get the gift.
Throughout the Bible, they are specific directives that we are told to obey. Among those directives are requirements to adhere to social structures articulated by God within His Holy Word. If you throw out those structures, you throw out God's Word as Holy, Eternal, Unchanging and Unchallengeable. From there, you throw out God, because without His Word, how would we know He exists? When you throw out God, you throw out the need for Salvation-- which is the state of being reconciled with God-- then you may as well throw out Jesus.
You only need Jesus if you accept the premise of a Perfect God Whose Holiness requires Him to condemn humanity. If you accept that concept, than you accept everything that Jesus and God say and command in the Bible.
It is very, very silly to accept Jesus' function as a Savior and then reject His teachings about how to conduct yourself. So, if Jesus says that slaves should obey their masters, than you must affirm that command. If Jesus says that women are to subject themselves to their husbands, then you cannot refute that instruction. If Jesus says that we must not be unequally yoked with non-believers, you don't argue that everyone is equal, you divide the world into those who believe and submit to the yolk of Heavenly authority and those who do not.
Now, what do you believe and in what way to you follow those beliefs? I would much rather read a detailed recitation on that subject than wade through a lengthy description of a game that will never change the world the way that Christianity did.
All the gamers who are so offended that we dared to criticize their game don't realize that we are actually more interested in them as individuals than the game that they play. They should be flattered that we care about them as people and want to open their eyes about the most important book in the world.
