A study in the March issue of Psychological Bulletin, a journal of the American Psychological Association, shows that playing violent video games increases violent thinking, attitudes and behaviors among players. And it does nothing to promote positive social behaviors.

God has a lot to say about video games.

1) They distract you from worshiping God:

Colossians 3:5

5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

2) They are a waste of time. You should only do things which are of value:

1 Corinthians 10:23–24

Galatians 5: 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. It follows from simple logic: before video games there weren't any school shootings and after video games there were. God gave us brains to think and use logic and reason, not to stick our head in the sand.

As far as I'm aware, so-called bullying existed before video games and so did gun ownership. What's the missing ingredient to make a crazy kid start to think it's normal to shoot people? That's right: video games.

As a Christian, I don't only want to outlaw violent video games, but all video games, including the ones that seem innocent. They are like a gateway drug. They get you to buy a Nintendo GameCube and Sony PS2 for innocent games, but once you have such a system in place, it's really easy to load violent games on it.

That's why kids aren't spanked so much these days. Their parents are afraid they will be shot by their violent out-of-control kids.

A video game does not make someone do this its their own choice to go out an do this THEY are to blame not some polys jumping around on your tv anyone who does this simply wants a scape goat and cant take responsibility for their own actions. On March 11th 2009, 17 year old Tim Kretschmer armed himself with more than 200 rounds of ammunition, before setting off on a bloody and murderous rampage at the Albertville school in Wissenden, Germany.

He shot and killed 15 people, 9 of which were students. A further 7 students were also shot in the rampage, but somehow survived.

But what could have caused such a shocking and disturbing tragedy, which has sent shockwaves across Germany? What could have caused a young man with everything to live for, a young man with no previous criminal convictions, to turn into such a homicidal lunatic?

From the News we’re told Kretschmer had finished all his studies, and enrolled on a course to train as a salesman. We’re also told he regularly worked out at the gym and belonged to a sports club. So it’s clear from the start this isn’t your normal Gothic High School Massacre (Though we have no doubts it was probably inspired by the Goths).

Heribert Rech, Interior Minister of the southern state of Baden-Wuerttemberg was quoted as saying, “He was completely unremarkable, there was nothing in his background to suggest this could have happened.” Fellow students also described him as “quiet” and “reserved”

So, if he wasn’t a Goth, then what DID cause him to snap, and perform such an evil and wicked act?


One word: Counter-Strike.


Yes, the News reports paint a picture of a boy who had been spending increasing amounts of time playing the violent Video game ‘Counter Strike’.

It appears that 17 year old Tim Kretschmer was obsessed with the so-called game ‘Counter-Strike’, to the point where he was unable to differentiate between his real life, and fantasy World he lived in the game. He probably thought he was still playing the game when he killed all those innocent children.

For those who do not know, ‘Counter Strike’ is an ultra-violent video Game where you go around shooting anyone you like. In the ‘alternative reality’ of Counter Strike, you can even pretend to be a Terrorist member of the Al Qaeda, and go out on a killing spree, murdering Godly American Soldiers. Shocking!

When these kids could be in Church learning all about God's love, reading the Bible, or spending their time with Jesus, they are instead playing these violent Anti-Christian games, and being brainwashed into wanting to Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill their parents, Kill their classmates, Kill themselves. That's the kind of trash these games brainwash children into thinking.

Counter-Strike is also the ‘School Massacre Simulator’ Seung-Hui Cho, the perpetrator of the Virginia Tech Massacre, trained on in High School.

See, it's like I've been saying all along - These video games turn good normal healthy kids who get good grades and have normal lives, into psychopathic mass-murdering game-geek psychopaths. The sooner we get this game banned, the better!

Let's do a little experiment:

Over 900 kids (myself included) play games such as Call of Duty, Halo, Counterstrike, Fable, and Minecraft at my school. NONE of them have done any school shootings.

The ratio of students to local school shootings: 0/900 Seems pretty unlikely video games are the cause... perhaps you should rethink your hypothesis.

My own analysis of the incident concluded that there is NO specific link between Counterstrike and the shooting. Any and all hypotheses that link counterstrike to the shooting have been conjured out of guesswork, with no solid evidence.

My own hypothesis: the kid was a bullying victim. Bullying causes hundreds of suicides and school shootings every year. The kid tried to suck it up, but bottleing emotions up inside like that is NOT good for you. Eventually, the kid went after the bullies with a gun. The bullies were most likely a small clique of girls (girls can bully people too, it's not all about physical strength, particularly if it's cyberbullying), and the additional casualties were the bullies' friends, who were caught in the middle.

Disclaimer: These are my theories, and my theories alone. If you choose not to believe them, I don't really care. I'm not trying to impose on you, just share my analysis of the incident.

I've completely turned away from christianity because of this whole forum. I'm not even going to speak my opinion as I know that you will instantly reject the comments as blasphemy or such.

Such a shame. I know the entire Word of God can be difficult for a false Christian to absorb all at once.
