Gautier man arrested after 250 pounds of pot found in vehicle
GAUTIER -- A Gautier man was arrested in a traffic stop after narcotics agents recovered 250 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $200,000, said Keith Havard, commander of the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team.
SMME agents and the Gautier Police Department arrested Robert "Bobby" Sumlin II, 36, Wednesday on Ladner Road in Gautier.
"We believe he is part of a drug-trafficking operation that we have been investigating a few months," Havard said.
Sumlin agreed to let agents search his vehicle, and they found the marijuana hidden in the vehicle, Havard said.
Agents arrested Sumlin on a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was held with no bond pending a court hearing.
Havard said the investigation could result in more arrests.
The South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team is composed of agents from the Pascagoula, Gautier and Moss Point police departments.
