Transgenders are really beyond the Gay/Lesbian spectrum. If anything, they are actually more in common with the inferior Heterosexuals. I truly believe that the vast majority of transsexuals are just simply heterosexual people born in the wrong sex. So ultimately, where is the sympathy for that? I do empathize with them and fight for their rights, but at the end of the day, I have to look at what I value the most and what is most important.

Me, if I had to choose between trans rights and gay/les rights, I'd choose trans first. Truth is, it's easier for gay/les people to stay in the closet as needed but you can't stay in the closet if you're trans. Trans people have alot more they have to go through simply to be themselves.

Many transsexuals are, in fact, heterosexuals who have been born the wrong sex, but there are many gay and lesbian transsexuals. Sexual orientation and gender identity are two totally different and seperate creatures.

Also, transsexuals have a unique perspective on feminist rights. A trans woman really understands the difference between how society treats men and women because they have had both. Ditto for trans men, but, honestly, they don't complain since they wind up being treated better after transition. Still, it's a shame many feminists try to keep transwomen out of the feminist movement.

Transsexual and homosexual are, actually, entirely different things. Gender identity and sexual orientation are two totally different creatures. In fact, there are alot of male to female transsexuals who identitify as lesbians while I've heard of many female to male transsexuals who are gay men. No, I'm offended because you're badmouthing transsexuals. You may know what the GLB part of the GLBT movement is about, but I know more about the "T." I understand the trans experience. I have first hand experience on what it means to be transsexual. I really didn't want to come out because alot of people start treating me like a man and these guys would be the worst, but, yeah, I'm transsexual myself. Been transitioning for about a couple of years, HRT since November, living full-time as myself for just a few weeks.... and I'm happier then I've ever been myself.

Truth is, though, I've always had the feeling that trans people are kinda the black sheep of the GLBT community. If we're straight, the gay community doesn't want to accept us but the straight community says we're too queer for them. I like the idea of trying to educate people about us, espically people within the GLBT community who simply don't understand the trans aspect of their own community.

Me, I understand alot of what Chaz has been through and much of what he will go through (although, the idea of WANTING to be a man is totally foreign to me). I know what it's like to look at your own body and think "this is wrong." I know what it's like to have that feeling that "something" is different with you. I know what it's like to have your "peers" to seem so different that you simply can't relate no matter how hard you try. And, I understand what it's like to reach that point that you can't keep living as what the rest of society wants you to be or you would wind up killing yourself.
