This is a forum, and forums are used as a means of discussing things with other people. The last I heard, Jesus has no Internet connection so I doubt you'll find him giving any of his personal opinions here.

OK right, sorry I just got referred to this forum by a friend. I'm an atheist and I have a great distaste for most religions, particularly fundamentalist Christians. I do however have a degree of respect and tolerance of different people's opinions. I have already seen just how tolerant Landover Baptists are (or perhaps aren't would be a better word). I didn't want to come to this forum all guns blazing saying how everyone here is completely insane, because it would be a complete waste of my time for saying it and your time for reading it, for all the good it would do us both.

Now that's the introduction out of the way, allow me to get to my point. The idea that a dog should be killed for being homosexual is ridiculous. For a start, yes there are homosexual dogs as there are homosexuals in many other animal species. But generally (in fact always) homosexual animals have sex with other animals of the same sex and same SPECIES. The fact that a dog may attempt to lick or bite a penis or balls has nothing to do with homosexuality of any variety. Both male and female dogs will attempt the same thing, in much the same way they would if you bounced some sausages up and down in front of them. The moral of this story is to always wear at least underwear when around your dog if it tries to do this, and most importantly, the dog is NOT GAY.

The idea that a dog should be killed for this behaviour is completely ridiculous, even if correlated with the quoted Biblical passages. As far as I know, animal homosexuality and human-animal sexual relations are not covered in the Bible at all, especially not in any of the quotes I have seen mentioned above. They all seem to apply to men having relations with other men, no mention of dogs jumping up at testicles. It just seems shocking that a group who seem to pride themselves on a literal view of the Bible would then twist its words in such a ridiculous and unnecessary fashion.

Whether something is "good" or "bad" is a value judgement, and "values" are traditionally in the realm of religion. You are going to have a hard time forcing "values" out of "science" without violating one it its main tenants. I am waiting anxiously for you to do this.

The concept of "barbarians" dates to ancient Greece, hardly a time where the beginnings of "science" did not exist. As early as the 19th century the naturalists were decrying the advance of "science" and "technology" as de-humanizing. The literature at the time even championed something called the "Noble Savage", who was free to live a pure life with nature unencumbered and tainted by the evils of civilization. There are even those that claim pre-historic man lived a relatively peaceful and bucolic life in hunter-gatherer societies.

Man can avoid diseases just by following the Bible (KJV1611). We don't need to know anything about "trichinosis" - just don't eat pork like it says.
