When Homosexuality Hits Close To Home

I just came across this article in Today's Christian Woman (I just read it for the pictures). It's good, though far too much reading for a woman of average intelligence, so I've edited it down. It's probably still too much for our female readers, so I have a short summary at the end.

I first became aware of how much I despised homosexuality when I worked at a savings and loan in 1981. Don [not his real name], referred to as a "queer" in our small town, shoved his savings passbook across the counter for a large cash withdrawal. He glanced over his shoulder and spoke to his companion, a good-looking boy of about eighteen. The boy laughed and his eyes met mine, full of mockery and challenge.

...one night seven years later, I feared for my life in the throes of my husband's drunken rage. The next day I confronted him. I couldn't live with his drinking problem any longer, and I urged him to seek help. Instead, he moved out. Several months later, he divorced me.

...on January 3, 1992, an emotional earthquake shattered my world. The pages of Tim's letter trembled in my hand as I read: "My sexual orientation has bothered me since I was twelve. Please, Mom, listen to me. I feel a strong attraction for men. I understand how you must feel . …"

Coffee splashed as I slammed my cup on the table and threw down the letter. No, Tim couldn't possibly understand, or he'd never have written this. I lurched up from the sofa, his words scorching my mind.

" … I am who I am, and it's taken me thirteen years to be able to accept this. … "

Thirteen years? No. No, I'd have known. What about his girlfriends in high school and college? How could he be gay? What happened? Where had I failed?

I fell to my knees sobbing. Then pulling myself off the floor, I grabbed my keys, snatched up Tim's letter, and ran to my car, taking off in the winter night.

As the speedometer reached 80 mph, a snow-covered guardrail suddenly rushed toward me. Terrified, I twisted the steering wheel. The car skidded, then held on the graveled shoulder. Peering into the darkness, I searched for familiar landmarks. Finally, I recognized a farmhouse. I'd gone more than fifty miles from home...

As the weeks went by, I felt ashamed and afraid. My prayers seemed inadequate...

"Did I ever tell you about the time Dad took me to a gay community in Massachusetts..."

As Tim described the incident, it became clear his father had been to this place before.

After Tim's letter in 1992, I regarded my adult son as a victim. "They" had caught and trapped him. "They" were faceless, nameless, evil people. Homosexuals. Enemies.

But God wasn't finished with me yet. That spring, Tim brought a friend home—a homosexual. The enemy had arrived on my doorstep. I was tense but quickly realized Tim's friend was even more nervous. I sensed his fear of rejection. Mothering instincts surged, and my heart reached out to him. He wasn't an enemy—he was a wounded soul...

My quiet times with the Lord changed from selfish pain and anger to genuine grief for Tim and others like him. Satan blinds them to the truth and deceives them.

The Lord's softened my heart, and I've learned to hate the sin while I love, or at least care for, the sinner...

Tim often brings homosexual friends when he comes to visit me and my new husband, Chuck. He once told me, "You guys are living proof to my friends that heterosexual marriage can work."

    Short summary for the ladies:

This woman's husband was actually a homosexual stealthily disguised as a heterosexual, and like a typical homosexual, he was drunken, violent, and got a divorce.

Worst of all, he's recruited his son into homosexuality.

But through lots of prayer and Bible-reading the son is learning that heterosexual marriage works, and soon he will become an ex-gay with a wife of his own.

Why hasn't that woman disowned her homer son; that's what a real Christian would do.

There are a lot of different ways to deal with a homosexual, all dependent on the situation. In this situation, I believe she has made the right choice by having her son indocrinated into repressing his homosexual urges and then marrying a woman. It's the only way he can avoid his father's fate.

I found something important missing from that woman's story . . . SPANKING! If she had loved her son the way God wanted her to, his fanny would be way to sore to play poke-back mountain with his Hellbound friends. As things are today, I'm sure I speak for Jesus when I prescribe proper Christian stoning for the entire family!

I am filled with sorrow. How easy it is to let deceivers pull us away from the Christ. How easy to fall into the twin slimepits of fear and guilt.

And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain. Genesis 14:10

For when this poor woman fell into fear and guilt, she was like one who flees from the Lord and falls, headlong, into two dreadful holes. It is a terrible predicament, my friends! For if it be hard to climb forth from one slimepit, how much harder to climb out of two at once?

          It is a grievous thing.

In her fear and her guilt she accepted into her home the defiler of her own son. In hope she made her errant son welcome, in hope, yes -- hope that she could turn him from the sin of Sodom and toward Jesus. But how slippery are the slopes of the world! For in her vain hope she toppled into a third slimepit.

Fear, Guilt, and Vain Hope! What slippery slopes lead the unwary to these dreadful traps.

Yet Jesus' love is ever-present, like the glorious sun in the heavens. This poor woman must lift her head, gaze upward from the depths of the pits in which she is trapped, and fix her gaze upon the Son! And as one who stares into the sun overlong burns out his eyes, so she may become blinded to the dreadful temptations of Fear, Guilt and Vain Hope!

For it is easier for a blindwoman to climb out of three slimepits than, um, than for an ass to exit the gates of his folly. And I think that about sums up my brief essay.

Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? Job 16:3

Yikes! I didn't realize how stealthy those homosexual are. I just thought that they let people fall into their trap. I never would have thought that they are actively trying to corrupt heterosexuals. I understand now that war has been declared and we must fight back.

What did you think the entirety of popular culture, from Boyzone through to General Mills cereals, was, if not a massive homosexual plot against Jesus? "I want to destroy something. I'm tired of the moral high ground. We've already got more than our share of gay Gandhis. We need a General Patton.

No poor bastard ever won a war by dying for his country."
              - That is a genuine quote from a real live homosexual.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I never really thought about it before, but this does make sense.
