We're used to thinking of Focus on the Family as an almost-True Christian™ organization devoted to hating many of the same people whom Jesus hates. But its president and CEO, Jim Daly, made the shocking statement in an interview in WORLD Magazine:
No, you don't want to be an extremist here; you just want to commit apostasy in public. Scripture clearly says,
Romans 8:31: What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who [can be] against us?
Are you going to trust unsaved demographers (and demography is just a theory), or are you going to trust God?
We're winning the younger generation on abortion, at least in theory. What about same-sex marriage? We're losing on that one, especially among the 20- and 30-somethings: 65 to 70 percent of them favor same-sex marriage. I don't know if that's going to change with a little more age—demographers would say probably not. We've probably lost that. I don't want to be extremist here, but I think we need to start calculating where we are in the culture.
