Jephthah offered the first thing that came out of his door to greet him, presumably thinking that he'd be offering a sheep or goat or something of much less value. He never explicitly offered his daughter and he certainly wasn't happy with the arrangement when she came out of the house. But God could have said; 'Nah, you're alright mate' - after all, causing a load of guys to be slaughtered shouldn't be too difficult a task for an omnipotent being.

God offers guidance. He enabled us with Free Will. It is up to us to make use of His Magnificent Gifts(r).
You people always try to find hidden meaning, deep interpretation of what you THINK He said. God and the Bible is not like that. If He were, he would of had notes added to the book jacket like Stephen King does.
No, God make the Bible simple and plain. But if you want to change His word and intent, please, feel free to do so. Just know that doing so will deposit you in Hell. Do not say you were not provided information that could Save your Soul.

He didn't make Jephthah do anything. Jephthah offered to show his devotion and love to the LORD by giving back his most valuable treasure. It's one of the reasons he is a hero of the faith.



But this doesn't have anything to do with the idea that God didn't really mean what He says in His Holy Word.

I'm curious as to how you've come to this conclusion. You seem to have misunderstood me. When I say straight, as in the sexual orientation, I don't mean a line or an angle or anything of the sort. All I mean is heterosexual. It's a very common term used for that.

Your comparison is right, in a way. Except, you see, people nowadays don't only live life to procreate. We live to have fun, to have memorable experiences, to do things. Yes, gay people aren't able to use their bodies to procreate, but here, now, in 2013, some straight couples don't even have kids - needless to say, it doesn't really matter anymore. The world is overpopulated, anyway.

But you've mentioned that the opposite of straight it warped. No, my friend, the opposite of straight is curved or bended. The opposite of warped, however, is perfect, and no human being is perfect.

And although you've used a lovely metaphor, and I do applaud you for creativity, we are not train tracks. We do not have one purpose, we have many. Thus, your comparison is flawed.
