It is horrible — but I don't think they were referring to music. I meet a lot of "unusual" girls in my work environment and I always look at the eyes. Sometimes I need to look fairly closely and even use a magnifying glass occasionally (I always carry one, just in case..) they don't mind at all which will give you some idea what I mean by "unusual"

That young person looks very "tired-around-the-eyes" doesn't she.
