Dear Curt (Curt by name, curt by nature, eh?),

As you well know, I am a straight talking and straight thinking person. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. Understanding, where lacking, causes many problems and your lack of understanding my genuine, heartfelt missive has greatly pained me. I call a spade a spade and, just as I take all of the Bible (KJV 1611) literally, you should take me literally.

Remember, Trust God and not yourself. Let God do it all for you and you will soon find that your life is a lot easier.

          Fair enough.

But what was with all the so called ‘trolling’?

You saw a place where devout people come together to share their most cherished beliefs and the first thing that you could think of was to troll us.

You have apologised and if true I forgive you. But part of forgiveness is explaining why you did it in the first place?

            Dear Curt,
I accept your apology with caution. With regards to purchasing a Bible (KJV 1611), well done, but be careful about the things of which you are boastful.

James 4:16 - But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil

This little verse instructs us that being boastful is evil if you are doing it as self-praise, but it is ok to Boast if you are doing it for Jesus as we are told in 2 Corinthians 8:24. I hope you are boasting for Jesus and not yourself.

Just one question for you. Why are you being so rude? I have extended you the courtesy of using your name when I address you, so why cannot you extend the same respect towards me?

P.S. I also have a KJV 1611. It is very old, a first edition no less, and does not have red writing because it is all the Word of God. Not just the red bits.

when I first came here you were all nice and full of advice, then some members stated saying my name wrong and it upset me that asked respectfully to please say it right or call me curtis, but instead evetyone started doing it and I snapped. I don't always think before I act I just go with the emotion the swells (in that case anger) and I do mean my apology I'm ready to learn from you all.

You say you come in peace, but the Bible says the antichrist will claim he comes in peace. Furthermore, the Bible tells us the antichrist will establish a false peace. See Thessalonians 5:3.

So let's move on, shall we? Everyone is forgiven, there are rainbows and blue birds in the sky, sparrows are singing gently as the warm breezes kiss our skin.

                    Let's get to praising Jesus.
                    Proverbs 21:31 KJV 1611:
“The horse is prepared against the day of battell: but safetie is of the Lord.”

Lord, may I serve my equine brothers and sisters just as I do my fellow man.
                    Amen and Amen

Thank you for your question. While it is OK not to mention the particular verses you're referring to, it would be helpful for your interlocutors if you did so, just for future reference. Here are some of the pivotal verses.

                              Matthew 27:42
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

                              Luke 23:26
And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

                              John 19:19
And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

                              Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

And though you didn't mention Mark, we could assess that one as well:

                              Mark 15:30
Save thyself, and come down from the
                              cross.

At this moment we (unfortunately) have to turn away from the most perfect form of the Bible, the King James Version, and look at the Greek text, the vernacular that the uneducated élite of Jesus's time spoke among themselves. Of particular importance is the word for "tree". We can find it in the Acts verse.

We find the word ξύλου, the genitive neuter singular of the word ξύλον [xýlon] that has the meaning of (dead) tree. So now we know that it refers to processed wood and not a growing, live tree that would have been referred to with the word δένδρον [déndron]. Is this different from the "cross" that appear in the other verses listed? They all derive (different cases but same root) from the word σταυρὸν [stauròn, not to be confused with the Sauron cult], a "stake", a "cross". As you can see, it is always a question of "processed wood". The meanings are the same and apparently these verses were transmitted by the Holy Spirit with somewhat different vocabularies for diversity and to keep up the attention of the Unsaved (and it was kept up as we can see based on your nice question).

The situation is analogous to the one that would take place if you asked what was the difference between "living in a building" and "living is a house". Thank you for your attention. You've now begun your journey into Biblical Studies. 31097 verses to go!

                              Yours in Christ,

                              Elmer
2 Kings 18:25 - Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
