[Luther T Washington]

My name is Luther T. Washington. My friends and family call me T-Bone. I grew up in a poor, rural community so it was not often my mother was able to afford to buy us fine T-Bone steaks. I was always asking her when the next time we would have those T-Bones. My brother always said "all you think about is those T-Bone steaks." That is how I came to be T-Bone. So please, call me T-Bone.

I am a lifelong member of an A.M.E. Church here in Colleton, South Carolina. My love for Jesus is deep and strong. His strength has helped me go to a fine school, raise a Christian family, and earn a good living.

I am looking forward to engaging in dialog with my fellow Christians.

Oh by no means. Colleton is a small town. There are only two Churches. Few white people live here.

The A.M.E Church was founded in Philadelphia in 1816 by Richard Allen. We are truly Methodist in nature, but the split was came about due to racial tentions. Our theology is as Methodist as any other Methodist Church. Episcopal refers to our church structure and organization. As for our world view, it is Christ centered.

Of course not Madam Clampett. I'm not here to rape or steal. It is common for white women attempt to defile black men. The gift God has given us is a Cross we bear. So I trust that these sorts of temptations will not happen here.

Now please calm down Mr. Superman. I don't think offense was meant and certainly no offense was taken. As is common in more rural communities it is not often that white people and black people have the opportunity to shall we say, get to know each other. Her suspicion is normal. I want to ensure her that I am no threat to her. Racial misunderstandings exist, so it is necessary that we offer each other the hand of mutual trust.

I apologize, I just get so frustrated when I see people make jokes about blacks. I take it REALLY seriously.

I find it frustrating at times, but if I were to take it so seriously, my attention would be diverted from where it belongs, on Jesus.
