    A sincere apology

Bonjour, hello, the good people of Landover Baptist Church.

I wanted to offer my apologies for diplomacy reasons, and to make an introduction, since my son had this opportunity, yet I never have since I came here out of investigating purposes after his untimely death.

I feel my joie de vivre has spoiled the austere purity of which this site values, and this may be because of my traditional Catholic upbringing and values, which can clash with the sensible dispositions of the Protestant ilk.

I need to address some recent confusion, I am not an midget porn enthusiast, and this recent photo is not me, but in fact, my granddaughter Kim whose used her cyber-coding savvy to hack my computer. As an elderly woman, I'm very vulnerable to mean-spirited efforts to make me look silly. Unfortunately, now I feel forever, anything I say will not hold credibility, because my profile will be subject to preconceived judgement.

Should anyone in power here who can see things from my point of view, and can restore this, since I am not tech-savvy and my son whose now dead helped me in these matters, and we can return to a civil discussion.

    Merci,
    Helene Fallope-Frottage

    Dear Madame Frottage,

As a fellow guest on these Forums, I'm all for forgiving you. However, this doesn't mean that your granddaughter Kim should stay on the sinner path. I suggest you to bring her more to Cathechism and, if she still behave that way, call for an exorcist.

And, if the dear Kimmy really wants something about Dwarves then she should be reading J. R. R. Tolkien's books.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Hello Hélène (I hope I've spelled that right) and a tentative welcome to the introduction forum. As you know, it is not my way to prejudge people—after all they, can't help it—especially since purity and austerity are not the same thing. Other than for heretics.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Perhaps I've found patience something to learn, rather than it coming naturally, exemplified by yearning for God to joy over me while singing as though I could hardly wait. He makes it clear though that this will be in a future state of perfection (Zeph. writing in the future tense) any day now. It's also surprising to read "Catholic" and "values" in the same sentence, catholicism being what emerges from a completely value free world. Romish purity may therefore seem austere, even arbitrary, when compared with another lovely Scripture:

I Samuel 18:6 7 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

The scene is far from austere, although pure and righteous – and for good reason. A number of elements are involved.
      • Singing
      • Dancing
      • Tabrets
      • Joy
      • Other instruments
      • Playing
      • Slaughter
David is the example helping us to understand Jesus. There is nothing mysterious going on: wretched populations opposed him and he dealt with them appropriately. Wretches also oppose Jesus – and He too will deal with them appropriately. There's nothing for Christians to do, enabling us to distinguish heresies (or downright alien belief systems) from reality. Protestants, quite recent dating from King Henry and/or Martin Luther, protested excessive demands from popes. Earlier, schism divided a myriad orthodoxies and later, so-called "denominations" shattered off in all directions. But there is no division in The Truth and no denomination is mentioned in The Bible where only Baptists appear, undenominated, all those years ago.

Do you have an encouraging Scripture Hélène?

It's a nice quote, though for me, the Song of Solomon speaks to my heart. I mean, you can go and talk about Gideon, you sing about your praises of Saul, I prefer deeper intimate moments of the Bible.

SOS 8:7 "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it."

This quote was written on the tombstone of my grandparents who perished on the St. Lawrence in the Empress of Ireland disaster. They both drowned in their stateroom and stood no chance.

I found your testimony moving. Were your grandparents believers? It can be a sensitive subject, even after a century, other than in a Christian setting (such as a Church forum) and I know these days social media are hogging the limelight but that won't last. Here, reality is the most important thing – not duckface. Did you know they actually WANT to look like they're made out of plastic?

II Samuel 22:47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

Oui, they were of the Catholic faith. I like to think they prayed on the rosary in their final watery moments.

Paris is a dreadful city and the couture, as they call it, one of its worst features. The concept of "rustic couture" would not be commonplace in Paris, indeed I'd never heard of it before. It gets worse: Paris is real. Dracula is at least fiction, unless you think it was a romantic take on insanity among European nobility; that at least is factual.

My time in Canada has never included Francophone regions, once bitten twice shy? you may think but you'd be wrong. Nothing bit me in France and happily drivers are always provided for Ontario, enabling some scenic routes that would otherwise elude me. I was reminded by your poor mother's situation of Queen Victoria's living four full decades, dying in her eighty-second year, following the demise of her husband? Outdoing God's benchmark suggests an alternative paradigm you'd be better advised to follow. Of course, there are other options but none of them have appealing outcomes. Choosing one would be rather like clutching an anchor chain to prevent oneself from sinking, if not the anchor itself. Cast adrift from the ship there's nobody to wind it back and the only way is down.

Psalm 90:10a; Hebrews 13:1-2; Revelation 21:8 The days of our years are threescore years and ten . . . Let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares . . . But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

                  Thank you, Jesus.

Have you thought about reading The Psalms?

The 90th for instance was conveyed to us by Moses and there are others too. I'm not sure which version you read – it could be listed as the 89th so best stick with the King James. Not all psalms are in Psalms, another example (from David) is in II Samuel, chapter 22.

vv 7, 8, 9, 10a In my distress I called to Yahweh and to my God I cried; from his Temple he heard my voice, my cry came to his ears. Then the earth quivered and quaked, the foundations of the heavens trembled (they quivered because he was angry); from his nostrils a smoke ascended, and from his mouth a fire that consumed (live embers were kindled at it). He bent the heavens and came down

That's from The Jerusalem Bible ©1966 because the false priests of France preferred it. A better alternative is available here:

                      KJV verses 7-10
                      KJV whole chapter

The salient point here is "bent heavens" (bowed heavens in KJV) and wackadoodle interpretations such as "Dave communicated with God using quantum tunnels, presumably via a brain implant, then God warped space, opening a wormhole for teleportation to avoid Xenon poisoning," Canada being awash with such nonsense. Why is it nonsense? Because if that's what God meant that's what He would have said. He had no problem conveying other alien concepts, contrary to popular understanding du jour, so if He used quantum wormholes He would have said so. Ideas even more remote from reality have been put forward—e.g. that God feels sorry for everyone—but these are transgressive. God only pities those who are frightened of Him.

Psalm 103:12-13 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

I've heard good reports of Vancouver around Jun-Sep but have no immediate travel plans. I hope you are avoiding lunatics in your area: it does sound like an uphill struggle though.

Thank you for that delightful verse. Such imagery. Makes one glad to be Christian, even if you may not approve of my denomination.

You can say that again about avoiding lunatics. Quebec has become a breeding dump for Muslims! What are we coming to?
