  • My name is Wally and I am a Christian

    Hello brothers and sisters in Christ,

    My name is Wally. I found this forum when I googled "Church Forums" and this was at the top of the list. I've never heard of your church, but judging by the size of these forums and the prominence in Google, I am sure I can find a lot of fellow Christians in here to have fellowship with and discuss the Bible.

    Matthew 5:43-44
    Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

      Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

        Re: My name is Wally and I am a Christian

        Hello Pastor Ezekiel! Well, I am 34 years old, married with three kids with the world's best wife. I don't attend any particular church, and haven't in a while because I am often at odds with the teachings and doctrine. I've tried some very conservative KJV-only Baptist churches, but they tend to twist Scripture around. I am an ultra-literalist Christian which means I believe all of the Bible should be followed, literally, to the word. Not just Genesis.

        Sometimes I think the Lord might be testing me and that what He wants for me is to build my own church. My favorite verses are from the fifth chapter of Matthew...

        43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

          Re: My name is Wally and I am a Christian

          My other favorite verse is 1 Peter 1:20

          Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

          I think much of the dissension and problems that have arisen with Christian churches over the years, especially the Roman Catholic Church, are due to men twisting the Bible around to suit their own agendas.

          Also, why does it say "Unsaved Trash" under my name? I have been saved for many years.

              In view of the generous Tithe you just sent in, I'll take care of that right away.

                I too, was prideful when I started on the walk. Jesus saved me of that. I realized that I wasn't truly Saved® until my pride was stripped of me.

                  I recognize the importance of tithes since Jesus has told us how important it is, even if you're a poor widow, to donate. I would hope I could find myself a member of your church someday, but first I need to look around a bit and get to know everyone first, if you don't mind.

                    Well, I've found most fundamental churches are all happy taking Genesis word-for-word and literally (which is good, I agree), but the rest of the stuff they partially or even completely twist around. The Word of God is not open to private interpretation. I believe what the 1611 KJV says is what God says. We cannot afford to take words out of context.

                    It isn't pride, but rather a feeling of loneliness. That men and women are so divorced from the Word of God, I truly feel alone sometimes. Almost like if I am the last Christian left on Earth.

                        hmmmm.. I'd feel better if our new Brother Wally would share his testimony of how he met Christ and became saved from his former life of dissipation and whoring. It's a real pick-me-up for our fellow True Christians™, when we share the miracle of what God has wrought in our life.

                          Re: My name is Wally and I am a Christian

                          Sure thing, Brother Larry. I grew up nominally Catholic, but hardly went to mass or anything like that. That's typical of most Catholic families though...religious in name only. By the time I became a teenager, I started rebelling against my upbringing and embraced atheism. I was like this throughout high school and even college. During these years I drank heavily, experimented with drugs, fornicated with lots of girls. But after I graduated, I suffered an accident.

                          I was leaving a party with some friends and we've all been drinking. Since I was the most relatively sober one, I was the designated driver. Well, we were trying to take one girl home and it was in an unfamiliar area and very dark. She told us to turn down one street, but it was a one-way street. I was going about 60 miles an hour when there was an extreme curve. I did my best to negotiate it, but I was too drunk and going too fast.

                          The car swerved, and went over the edge of the small embankment. I remember the car rolling and flipping. When I came to, I was in the hospital. I learned my friend in the passenger seat died (wasn't wearing a seatbelt) by being thrown out of the windshield and the two girls in the back were crushed to death by the way the car landed and rolled. I was actually amazingly okay. I just had a couple broken ribs, a collapsed lung, minor head injuries, and a concussion.

                          That night in the hospital I had a dream. I was in outer space with so many stars around me. Then I saw Jesus in front of me and he was walking to me. He put out his hand and said "Come".

                          I realized the Lord saved my life because He wanted me to join Him. The other three people that died probably would've never become Christian. My friend in the passenger seat drank and whored more than I did, plus he was rather violent and was on probation at the time for an assault charge. The two girls in the back were harlots pure and simple. Just minutes before the accident, they were making out with each other.

                          So I started reading the King James Bible and became a Christian. I searched for churches in my area, but after a while, became disillusioned with them because of their double standards on Scripture-twisting. And here I am today.
