As this seems to be the appointed place for introductions, I shall get right to it. My name is Sofonda Peters, and I am a Christian woman living in Texas. My leatherbound copy of the 1611KJV Bible is my constant companion and a great comfort in troubled times. I enjoy cooking, gardening, and sewing (although being of a certain age, my vision no longer agrees with needlepoint). I also make a point of attending church services on Sundays and Wednesdays over at the Second Shady Grove Baptist Church. One of the ladies over at the VFW set me up with this computer and "Internet" connection as a thank you for being a volunteer cook in their kitchen these last 27 years. I am not generally one to go along with fads, but she seemed to think this one is going to last. Time will tell I suppose. I was pleased as punch to come across your site this week. The potential for True Christian fellowship put a smile on my face. I know I have much still to learn, and look forward to exploring God's Word with you.

My dear husband Richard died in the war. Some of my favorite recipes are those which I learned from my mother and grandmother, and would include chicken and dumplings, pot roast, barbecue, chicken fried steak, turnip greens, biscuits, creamed corn, sweet potato souffle, and apple pie.

Merciful Heavens! I just took it for granted that people would know you can't cook up a mess of greens without fatback, and that "barbecue" = pork. I reckon there are more of those joo types up your way than there are down here. Praise Jesus!

Praise! While you're here, would you care to elaborate on your pot roast recipes a little? I don't ask for myself, you understand (I am a simple man, currently subsisting on a diet of rice, noodles, and those free servings of salt and ketchup you can get at some places), but Pastor Ezekiel has often said that, next to re-reading 1 Chronicles 4, he finds nothing more exciting than discussing pot roast recipes.
